
Recently, the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) signed an MoU with the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE). The MoU aims to upskill over 1 lakh learners over the next three years in IT. This collaboration aims to enhance the employability of students and faculty across Telangana by providing training in emerging technologies.
The MoU outlines a comprehensive plan to train 1 lakh individuals annually, focusing on both engineering and non-engineering students, as well as faculty members. The initiative includes micro-learning modules, foundational and advanced courses (available in both free and paid formats), and a specialized offline programme in Embedded Software Development and Testing. These offerings are designed to build critical digital capabilities and align academic learning with industry requirements.
The signing ceremony was attended by Telangana’s Minister for IT, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, who emphasized the state’s commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a hub of skilled professionals. He highlighted the government’s efforts to convert Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) to ensure job placements for all students. He also stressed the importance of industry-academia collaboration in imparting market-relevant skills and providing suitable internships.

Dr. Abhilasha Gaur, CEO of the IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council at NASSCOM, highlighted the organization’s role in developing India’s IT sector. Various initiatives have been started by the council to improve skills for many individuals in the IT sector. Participants of the programme who acquire certification also have the opportunity to get jobs through NASSCOM’s Talent Connect platform.
This initiative reflects Telangana’s proactive approach to addressing the skill gap in the technology sector. By equipping students and faculty with industry-relevant skills, the state aims to foster a workforce capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving digital economy.
