UPSC introduces Aadhaar-Based Registration with new portal

UPSC

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has introduced a newly upgraded registration portal, streamlining the application process by integrating Aadhaar-based authentication. This move is aimed at enhancing the verification process and improving ease of access for candidates appearing in UPSC exams.

In an official notification released on Wednesday, the commission emphasized that applicants are strongly encouraged to use their Aadhaar card as the primary identity document while completing the Universal Application process. This step will allow for faster verification, hassle-free exam centre access, and a permanent, unified identity record for all future UPSC examinations.

“Candidates are advised to register using Aadhaar for seamless authentication and quicker identity verification,” reads the UPSC directive.

Under the new system, uploading identity documents is mandatory, and Aadhaar is now the preferred method of identification. However, candidates who do not wish to use Aadhaar can still submit another valid photo ID for the registration process.

The UPSC has also clarified that the previously used One-Time Registration (OTR) module is now obsolete and will no longer be in use. All new applicants must register through the upgraded portal.

This major digital upgrade aligns with the government’s push for digital inclusion and transparency in public service recruitment processes.
