Amity University Hyderabad has welcomed renowned academic leader Dr. Seelam Venkata Kota Reddy as its new Vice Chancellor, marking a significant addition to the institution’s leadership team. Dr. S. V. Kota Reddy assumed office on 26th November 2025, bringing with him more than three decades of expertise in teaching, research and higher education administration.
Dr. Reddy announced the development on LinkedIn, expressing his enthusiasm to begin a new chapter at Amity University Hyderabad after an impactful five-year tenure as Vice Chancellor of VIT-AP University. His leadership at VIT-AP was widely recognised for driving notable achievements in academics, research and institutional growth.
A respected academician with 36 years of professional experience, Dr. Reddy has previously served in several prestigious roles, including Academic President at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai Campus. During his stint in the UAE, MAHE Dubai earned a 5-Star rating in the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) framework, emerging as one of the highest-rated universities in Dubai.
Dr. Reddy holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and is known for his strong belief in commitment, teamwork and timely execution. His career has been distinguished by pioneering contributions to international academic collaborations, student exchange programs and multidisciplinary excellence.
A prolific researcher and innovator, Dr. Reddy has filed seven patents, one US, two international and four Indian — in collaboration with IIT Bombay, and has authored numerous papers in Scopus and Web of Science-indexed journals. His R&D outputs have earned several accolades, including:
- Meritorious Award at KAIF 2007 for Plastic Solar Water Heater
National Award for Excellence in HVAC&R for two consecutive years (2008 & 2009) - Outstanding Contribution to Education Award, Middle East Education Leadership Awards (2016 & 2017)
