e-school project in Africa by the New Partnership for African Development,(NEPAD) launched early this year enters second phase
taking lead in bringing the capacity building initiative near to secondary and primary schools across the nation.
The aim of the e-school project as conceptualized by NEPAD is to harness ICT in a bid to improve the quality of teaching
and learning in African schools. The project is also aimed at creating a critical mass of African youths with ICT skills, in order to narrow the digital divide between Africa, America and Europe.
The capacity building initiative, if fully implemented, according to the promoters, is expected to transform Nigerian educational sector from traditional class room of chalk and blackboard to virtual classroom which is one the requirements of the 21st century knowledge economy.
The project which is expected to build a virtual classroom in the Nigerian educational sector is a subsection of Digital Knowledge Democracy to enhance the pace of IT penetration in Nigeria.
