A flagship programme has been launched by Governor Peter Obi for the training of the two hundred ICT teachers recently recruited by the state government.
The programme is to be covered during three weeks and is to take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Library, Awka is in collaboration with Microsoft and New Horizon Computer Learning Centre. The training programme is part of measures taken by the state government to equip teachers properly for effective training of students in various schools and Microsoft academies.
Governor Obi mentioned that the initiative was in line with the vision and determination of his administration to empower the people properly to fight extreme hunger and poverty as ICT remained the capital and engine that would drive the future world.
He added that the recruitment of 200 teachers is supportive to the economic development and promotion of the Universal Basic Education of the Millennium Development Goals, in addition to the training that the teachers provide to students.
