AICTE requests universities to allow 20 pc credit transfers through Swayam

In a major development, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) requested all universities and colleges to allow upto 20 per cent credit transfer in every semester through the government’s SWAYAM.

SWAYAM, is an online platform with close to 2,000 online courses initiated by the MHRD. It also supports the launch of online degrees and provides equivalent courses approved by the AICTE.

In a circular AICTE said: “AICTE requests vice chancellors of all universities and directors or principals of autonomous colleges to facilitate students and permit credit transfer to the extent of 20 percent in every semester through the online courses provided through SWAYAM platform.”

This allows students to avail 20 percent of their total course credits by attending equivalent online courses through SWAYAM.

The allotment of 20 percent credit through SWAYAM was issued as per the first amendment of the University Grants Commission(UGC)(Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses through SWAYAM)Regulations, 2016.

AICTE’s circular follows a slew of announcements by the Government of India as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, to overcome the hardships brought by the coronavirus outbreak.

HRD Minister: Students can apply for JEE-Mains

In the view of Corona pandemic, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said students whose plans to study abroad have been affected due to COVID-19 will get a fresh chance to apply for JEE-Mains.

“In view of representations received from various Indian students who were scheduled to join colleges abroad but are now keen to pursue their studies in India due to changed circumstances arising out of COVID-19, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to give an opportunity,” HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank” said.

The application window for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Mains), which opened today, will have to be completed by May 24, 2020.

The NTA director Vinnet Joshi said “students who were not able to complete their application form due to other reasons can also make use of this opportunity”.

The exam will be held across the country from July 18-23, 2020.

Tamil Nadu reschedules Class 10 board exams again

In the view of Coronavirus epidemic, Tamil Nadu Board has rescheduled the Class 10 board exam again. The Class 10 exam will now be held from June 15 to June 25. It was earlier decided that the exam will be held from June 1 to June 12.

The new development has been announced by Tamil Nadu Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan. The government has increased the number of exam centers to 12,000 from 3,800 in order to make it safe for the students.

Only 10 students will be allowed to sit in one classroom during the exam.

Over 9.5 lakh students will appear for the class 10 board exam in Tamil Nadu.

For the class 12 students who could not appear for the board exam paper on March 24, there will be an exam on June 4.

In Tamil Nadu, while the class 11 and class 12 exams started in the beginning of March, the SSLC exams were scheduled to begin towards the end of the month.

Sengottaiyan had said that the evaluation of answer scripts for class 12 exam will begin from May 27, and a schedule for this will be released soon.

Karnataka announce Class 10 Exam schedule

In a major relief to students, Karnataka Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar, announced that the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) board exam for class 10 students will be conducted from June 25 to July 4.

The minister instructed schools to follow the norms of social distancing and other precautionary measures while conducting the exams.

Earlier, over 8.5 lakh students have registered for the board exams which were scheduled to be held from March 27 to April 9. Due to the nation-wide lockdown till May 31, 2020, the exams were postponed.

S. Suresh Kumar said, “The SSLC board exam for Class 10 students will be conducted at 2,879 examination centres across the state under new guidelines, which make wearing a mask and maintaining social distance mandatory.”

He also said “at least 2 meters of distance has to be kept between 2 students, additional classrooms will be arranged for complying with the guidelines. Scouts and guides will distribute 2 face masks to every student at the school entrance to wear one before getting into the exam room or hall and keep the other as spare.

NIOS to release new admit cards for class 10 and 12

In a major development, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will soon release the Admit Cards for Class 10 and 12. The admit cards will be release on its official site- https://www.nios.ac.in/. These admit cards were pushed back due to the COVID-19 outbreak and countrywide lockdown.

NIOS will issue the admit cards for theory and practical exams separately. Students who want to download admit card for theory or practical exam will have to enter their official enrollment number/registration id.

These new admit cards will only be valid for the remaining NIOS exams that were delayed due to the COVID pandemic. The remaining NIOS exams have all been pushed back until June of 2020, as the lockdown has been extended to May 31, 2020. The admit card will also provide all the details required, such as the venue, timing, and the dates of the pending examinations.

While most NIOS exams are still pending, some practical exams were successfully conducted back in March. The results for those practical exams are now available on NIOS’ official website.

Students are asked to visit NIOS official site for further notification.

Gujarat Board not to declare 12th Class Results before June

Refuting all the rumours, Gujarat Board will not declare its results for General Stream students today. The GSEB has confirmed that GSEB 12th General Stream Result 2020 will be declared in June 2020. The results will be declared after the lockdown will be lifted.

The confusion about the Gujarat 12th General Stream Result 2020 being declared today i.e. on 19th May 2020 started after a fake notice, which looks identical to official one, started going viral on various social media platforms.

The fake notification, which is doctored using the notification released for 12th Science Stream Result, has signature of Science Stream Exam Regulator JG Pandya, whereas the exam controller for General Stream is Avni Mori.

GSEB chairman AJ Shah categorically denied that the board has not released any such notification. He also added that some anti-social elements have doctored the fake notice to confuse students who are worried about declaration of Gujarat 12th Arts and Commerce Results 2020. He also confirmed that currently, the board has not made any plans to declare results for general stream students.

Local media reports from Gujarat have quoted GSEB Chairman A J Shah as saying that currently the board is working on scare staff and therefore has not been able to complete the preparations for declaration of Gujarat 12th General Stream Result 2020.

BSEB begins scrutiny of toppers for Class 10 Results

According to reports, Bihar Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has commenced the scrutiny process for Bihar 10th Toppers 2020. The results for Class 10th are expected soon.

Earlier, BSEB chairman Anand Kishore had formally announced that the Bihar Board has completed the evaluation process. The board has started the 10th Class toppers’ scrutiny process, which will include rechecking checking of answer sheets and also holding the interviews with them.

The Bihar Board conducts a second round of thorough testing of the students’ answer sheets as part of the toppers’ scrutiny process. As part of this process, answer sheets of students who have been termed as toppers after the first round of evaluation, have been taken to Board’s office for a second round of checking.

According to official sources the results for Class 10 students might be out as early as on 20th May 2020.

CBSE issues safety guidelines for students during exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education has released the revised datesheet for the pending exams. The board has also mentioned specific guidelines that are to be followed by the students for the July 2020 Exams.

The Class 12 Board Exam are to be held from 1st July 2020 o 15th July 2020 whereas 10th Class Board Exams for students from North East Delhi are more spaced out and would be conducted on 1st, 2nd, 10th and 15th July 2020.

Safety guidelines for students during exam:

Keeping COVID in mind, a detailed set of safety guidelines have been prescribed for the students who are due to appear for the board exam in the coming days.

The key among them are mentioned below:

Hand Sanitizers – Students have been asked to carry their own hand sanitizer to the examination centre.

Face Masks – The board has also recommended use of a face-mask or use a cloth to cover students’ faces at all the time.

Social Distancing Norm – Another important guideline issued by CBSE Board asks students to maintain proper physical distance between them and the other students as well as the examiners at all the time.

Parental guidance on guidelines – With COVID-19 cases increasing by the day, the board has asked parents to sensitize students towards the health hazards of the Coronavirus and how it can be prevented.

Parents advised to ensure students are safe and healthy – Parents have also been advised to ensure that their ward is not sick at the time of the examination

CBSE releases date sheet of Class 10 and 12 exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally released the datesheet of Class 10 and 12 examinations. The datesheet has been released on Union Minister of Human Resource and Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal, twitter account.

The class 10 and 12th board exams will be conducted for the remaining 29 papers from July 1 to July 15, 2020, at various centers.

CBSE Class 10 board exams:

1. Exams to be conducted for North East Delhi: Hindi Course A, Hindi Course B, English Communication, English Language and Literature, Science, and Social Science.

CBSE Class 12 board exams:

1. To be conducted for the whole of India: Business Studies, Geography, Hindi (Elective), Hindi (Core), Home Science, Sociology, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Information Practice (Old), Information Practice (new), Information Technology, and Bio-Technology.

2. To be conducted for North East Delhi: English Core, Mathematics, Economics, Biology, Political Science, History, English Elective – N, English Elective -C, Physics, Accountancy, and Chemistry.

MP Board cancels Class 10 exams over COVID

In the view of Coronavirus epidemic, Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has decided to cancel the remaining exams of Class 10. However, Class 12 exams will be held from June 8 to 16, 2020. The final exam schedule for Class 12 students will be released online soon.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the result for Class 10 students will be announced based on the marks obtained by them in previous exam papers only.

MP Board postponed the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams due to the Coronavirus outbreak. MP Board had begun the exams on March 2. According to the reports, approximately 19 lakh students had registered for the board examinations in 2020.
