CBSE introduced new Applied Mathematics as elective subject

The Central Board of Secondary Education introduced ‘Applied Mathematics’ as an elective subject at senior secondary level. The course can be opted for class XI students as an elective subject from this academic year.

A notification from CBSE stated, “Mathematics is widely used in higher studies in the field of economics, commerce and many others. It has been observed that the existing maths syllabus aligns with Science subjects but doesn’t align with commerce and social- science subjects. By keeping it in mind, one more elective course has been added to the syllabus.”

The new Applied Mathematics has been designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of Maths that are required to be successful for the future.

The students who have passed basic mathematics in class X can adopt this course.

The details over the new subject will be shall be available during the admission.
