In order to enable students, and even parents, cope with school curriculums, be it ICSE, CBSE or State board, Atul Kulshrestha, chairman of extramarks.com, hit upon the idea to launch an interactive education portal to create an online community of teachers, students and parents that can act as complete educational support system for students between classes VI and XII after school hours.
The focus of extramarks.com is to enhance and broaden the students' learning experience by providing high quality learning resources to students, parents and teachers, thus creating a collaboratory triangle where they support each other with the single aim of providing after-school educational support to ensure that students perform better in examinations, Mr. Kulshrestha explains.
The community has three key components. The peer to peer network of students allows the students to bond, understand and help one another. The network of teachers and parents helps them collaborate to understand the students better and thus help them succeed. The students can use the database of chapter-wise and subject- wise content to prepare their course content and the syllabus thoroughly. The key feature that helps students excel in the examinations is an online, customised, real-time subject expert guidance. Students can ask questions and get answers on a one-to-one basis.”
