The Human Resource Ministry of India has proposed a National Mission for Education through ICT. Under this mission, all higher learning institutes would be networked through broadband connectivity.
The HRD Ministry is planning to develop e-Content which would be available through the medium of Edusat, Internet and cable TV networks. The Ministry is also planning to approach the World Bank to fund this programme.
All Indian Institutes of Technology, and the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore have jointly developed 225 video and web based courses under the NPTEL. These would be available for use by engineering colleges of the country.
