For enhancing the competence of Indian Forest Service Officers in the areas of environmental policy and forestry management, the government of India has partnered with some universities in the USA to provide Mid-Career Training to the officers. Through the partnership, the Mid Career Training that will be provided to the officers is expected to improve their professional skills.
At different levels of career of the Indian Forest Service Officers, the Mid Career Training will be mandatory, in their career progression as per Indian Forest Services (IFS) Pay Rules. The training will be conducted at the Indian Institutes of Management (IMM) or the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun and for two weeks in selected foreign universities. The six universities selected for the training programme include Colorado State University, University of Yale and University of Syracuse.
