
Santosh Panda, a faculty in IGNOU has been appointed as the new chairman of Nation Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), a regulator for setting quality standards and running of teacher education institutions in the country. The overall objective of the body is to achieve planned and coordinated development of the teacher education system and the regulation and proper maintenance of norms and standards in the teacher education system throughout the country.
In all, there were 11 candidates who were shortlisted for the post of whom only 3 made it to the final list. Panda’s name was approved by Human Resource Development minister MM Pallam Raju and cleared by the Appointment Committee of Cabinet.
