IISc Bangalore top Indian university; IIT Indore second best in Times Ranking

The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore ranked as the top Indian institute in the “Times Higher Education World University Rankings” released on Wednesday.

World University RankingsIISc Bangalore is placed between the 251-300 band in Times Ranking. The premier research institute is followed by IIT Indore (351-400), IIT Bombay (401-500) and IIT Roorkee (401-500) and Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara University, Karnataka (401-500) from Karnataka, which are country’s top five institutes.

As per the ranking, the top three positions have been retained by Oxford University, University of Cambridge and Stanford University, in the same order. Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been ranked 4th this year improving its rank by one position from last year. California Institute of Technology has been ranked 5th among top Universities of the world.

The list comprises more than 1250 Universities from 86 countries worldwide. In the Times Ranking, among the 49 Indian Universities, IIT Indore has been ranked the second best Indian University living institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur behind.

Among the NITs, the first in the country, NIT Rourkela, has been ranked in the band of 601-800. The institute was in 126th position in the Asia University ranking 2018. NIT Tiruchirapalli, the other one in the category is in 801-1000 rank band.
