
In a major development, Punjab and Haryana are among the states that are reopening schools in a staggered manner from today, October 15, 2020. Schools in UP would be reopening by October 19, 2020.
As informed earlier by the Punjab government, students of classes 9 to 12 would be allowed to attend classes with parental consent today onwards. Schools would be functional for 3 hours every day However, attendance would not be compulsory for the students. As for Haryana, the students from classes 6th to 9th standard could visit their schools to consult the teachers from October 15 onwards.
Mizoram will open the schools from October 16 with new SOPs for reopening of schools. Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand will reopen schools from November.

Schools in Uttar Pradesh would reopen for classes 9 to 12 students of all boards outside containment zones from October 19. The state government has decided that the classes will be held in shifts and all-important processes including social distancing and proper sanitization of premises would be followed in schools. Students of classes 9 to 12 will be allowed to attend the classes only after getting written permission from their parents or guardians.
The schools also need to follow all SOPs including social distancing, personal hygiene, wearing of masks, and sanitization inside the premises across all states. Also, it needs to be ensured that the minimum distance suggested by MHA should be there between 2 students. Teachers may be called in 2 shifts of 3 hours each where students are more in number.
