The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has initiated talks to collaborate with Greece in order to improve cross-border collaboration in education.
T G Sitharam, chairman of AICTE, and Dimitrios Ioannou, Greek Ambassador, recently participated in a conversation in the national capital. The discussions focused on ways to encourage better cohesiveness and collaboration between Indian and Greek universities in cooperative research, training, twinning, and development.
Alexandros Boudouris, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Ismini Panagopoulou, First Counsellor for Political and Cultural Affairs, were also present during the meeting.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Ioannou informed the Greek Ministry of Education of AICTE’s honourable desire for collaboration. Ismini Panagopoulou will also enable linkages between AICTE and key Greek agencies in order to develop greater educational synergy.
Aside from the debate, Yogi Kochhar, the Honorary Commissioner; and a recognized happiness icon, introduced the ‘YOL’ scholarship program for any educational establishment that implements a happiness program in their surroundings.
Talking about the partnership, Prof T G Sitharam said, “AICTE, we have drawn inspiration from Chandrayaan-3 to embark on this journey of reclaiming and redeeming ‘Vasudev Kutumbakam.’ Recognising the challenges and opportunities of globalisation, we believe that cross-border collaboration is essential for shaping the future of our educational institutions and our nation.”
The meeting was organised by the Hellenic Indian Chamber of Commerce and Economy as the first step toward an educational relationship between AICTE and Greece.
