MSBTE Final year 2020 results

The result for MSBTE Summer 2020 for final year diploma exam has been announced on the official website of the board. All those candidates from final year, can check the result on official website of MSBTE at msbte.org.in.

The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) declared the Summer 2020 results for final year, final semester and backlog candidates. The MSBTE Summer 2020 exam for final year, final Semester and backlog candidates was conducted in online mode from October 6 to 17. T

In order to pass the MSBTE Summer Diploma Exam 2020, a candidate will need to score a minimum of 40% marks in the examination.

While it usually takes 30 to 45 days for the board to examine the copy and declare the result, the MSBTE Summer 2020 result was announced early this year as the examination was conducted in online mode. The candidates who have any doubts about their MSBTE Summer 2020 result can apply for re-evaluation of the answer sheets.

UGC extends application deadline for scholarship programmes

The application window for UGC 2020 scholarship has been extended by the University Grants Commission. The UGC has also extended the end date for verification of applications by institutions of students, including re submission of defective applications until 15th December 2020. Eligible students are required to submit the scholarship application through the National Scholarship Portal on the website – scholorships.gov.in.

These include the Indira Gandhi PG Scholarship for Single Girl Child (SGC), Ishan Uday Special scheme for North Eastern Region (NER), PG Scholarship for University Rank Holder candidate (URH) and PG Scholarship for Professional Courses for SC/ST candidates (PGSPROF). The application process for the scholarships commenced on 1st September 2020.

Institutions eligible have also been advised by the University Grant Commission to verify the applications of their students immediately upon receiving the applications on the official portal.

Meanwhile, in another notification released recently, the University Grants Commission has also extended deadline of admissions for September-October academic session for the year 2020-2021 for the distance and open learning programmes offered by Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) across India. The revised date notified by the UGC for the completion of admission process in open and distance online mode has been extended to 30th November 2020. The admission process was earlier scheduled to be over by 31st October 2020. The Commission has also asked the HEIs to upload the admission details on UGC DEB web portal by 15th December 2020.

Haryana govt to open universities from Nov 16

The Haryana Government has decided to open government colleges and universities from November 16. Meanwhile, online classes have started from Monday.

The spokesperson said that in view of the needs of students studying in colleges and universities, the state government has decided to open government, government-aided, and private colleges and universities from November 16, 2020, with standard operating procedures to be followed.

He said that academic staff will be present in the institutions. If a student needs to clarify his doubts he can visit the college keeping in mind the norms of social distancing and following the guidelines of COVID-19.

Staggered timings, regular sanitization, and compulsory masks will be followed as students return to college after a gap of almost eight months.

According to the scheduled prepared by the state education department, college students will be given scheduled to be followed by their respective departments.

Across the country and the schools in Haryana were closed after PM Modi on March 25 announced the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus which has affected  82.29 lakh people across the country and has claimed the lives of 1,22,607 people so far.

With the start of November 2020, several state governments has decided to reopen schools and higher education institutions with strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines. Earlier, the Union Home Ministry had allowed state governments to permit reopening of educational institutions.

School principals not in favour of postponing board exams

According to a report, many school principals in the NCR are not in favour of postponement of the CBSE board exams next year.

The school principals believe that the postponement of board exams will not be a right move as it will impact the schedule of higher education entrance exams and admission processes as well.

The Delhi government had last month written to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to not conduct the board exams next year before May and further reduce syllabus as schools still continue to remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had also raised the issue at NCERT’s council meeting last month chaired by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

With no concrete update on vaccines, schools don’t see parents allowing their wards to return to school.

In a letter to the CBSE, the Directorate of Education (DoE) had said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a major chunk of time of 2020-21 academic session (approximately seven months) could not be utilised for classroom teaching learning process as schools in Delhi are closed till October 31.

Universities and schools across the country were ordered to shut down on March 16 to contain the spread of novel coronavirus. On March 25, the Centre announced a nationwide lockdown. While several restrictions have been eased gradually in different phases of the ‘unlock’ since June 8, educational institutions continued to remain closed.

However, according to the latest ‘Unlock 5’ guidelines, schools, colleges and other educational institutions outside COVID-19 containment zones can reopen after October 15. The final decision on reopening the institutions has been left with the states and Union Territories.

NEET PG 2021 Exam postponed, application process to commence soon

National Board of Examination, (NBE) has postponed NEET PG Exam 2021. The examination that was scheduled to be conducted on January 10, 2021 has been deferred. The new exam dates would be available to candidates on the official site.

As per the official notice released by the Board, “National Medical Commission (NMC) vide its communication No. NMC/Secy/2020/01 dated 29.10.2020 has informed that the matter of conduct of NEET-PG 2021 is being considered by the UG & PG Boards of the Commission in consultation with the stakeholders.”

The notice further reads that in view of the NEET-PG 2021 as announced by NBE vide its notice dated 16th September 2020 stands deferred till further notice.

NEET PG is an exam that is conducted every year for 10,821 Master of Surgery (MS), 19,953 Doctor of Medicine (MD), and 1,979 PG Diploma seats at 6,102 institutions. There are a total of forty-eight thousand, 48000 seats for NEET PG admissions across the colleges in the entire country.

The examination form would be released by the Board along with the official notification in the first week of November. NEET PG exam 2021 will be a computer-based test with 300 multiple-choice questions. The examination will be conducted in 162 cities across the country.

Meanwhile, National Medical Commission, NMC has notified its first major regulation titled ‘Minimum Requirements for Annual MBBS Admissions Regulations 2020’.

Gujarat approves new 248 self-financed schools

To provide boost to primary education in the state, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has given an in-principle nod for 248 new self-financed schools.

The decision was taken after various proposals were discussed before the executive committee of the board. The approvals were considered over a series of meetings and decision finalized last week. The board has rejected as many as 345 proposals for new schools at the meeting.

Last year, the board’s decision to introduce stricter norms for new school projects resulted in a sharp decline in new schools coming up in the state.

Of the 443 applications it received, the board gave its nod only for 10.6% or 47 new schools for 2019-20. Compared to the previous year this is a decline of 80% for as many as 226 new schools had been approved in 2017-18. The board had received 535 applications then.

One of the major reasons cited for the decline was that applicants could not meet the new criteria of school trusts owning a sizeable chunk of land, moving away from earlier norms that allowed leases.

Kasturirangan: NEP will contribute to 21st century education goals

Eminent scientist K Kasturirangan said, the National Education Policy (NEP) will contribute to a new system aligned with aspirational goals of the 21st century education while remaining rooted to India’s value systems and ethos.

Kasturirangan, who was the chairman of the committee tasked with drafting NEP, made the remarks at the eighth Convocation of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing – Kancheepuram.

“The vision of India’s new educational system has been crafted to ensure that it touches the life of each and every citizen consistent with their needs and necessities besides creating a just and equitable society. “The NEP’s approach is to realize a new system aligned with aspirational goals of 21st century education while remaining rooted to India’s value systems and ethos. The policy provides an integrated, yet flexible approach to education,” he said.

The former ISRO chief said, “Further it has kept the inter-connectedness of the various phases of education in mind and how the same will enable continuity, coherence and processes to ultimately realize an end-to-end educational road-map for the country.” At the convocation, the institute which has been awarded the ‘Institute of National Importance’ by Ministry of Education, awarded degrees to 306 students.

KVs, NVs, Assam, AP, Himachal Pradesh to reopen schools today

Many states have already reopened the schools for few classes, some other states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Uttarakhand have decided to reopen schools from November 2, 2020. Schools and other educational institutes across the country are reopening in various states in a graded manner.

Along with these states, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya have also planned to reopen schools across the country for classes 9 to 12 from November 2 onwards. All the states have issued new guidelines for reopening schools.

Andhra Pradesh: The state government is taking all precautions to reopen schools in a phased manner. Schools will conduct classes for students on alternate days and classes would be held till noon. Each classroom will have only 16 students.

Himachal Pradesh: Classes 9 to 12 will reopen today in the state. Schools have to ensure that COVID19 guidelines are followed that have been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Assam: Schools reopening today after more than seven months. Classroom teaching would begin from November 2 for the students of class 6 and above.

Uttarakhand: Like Rajasthan, schools in Uttarakhand will reopen today for classes 10 to 12. Parental consent is mandatory for attendance.

Till now, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and some other states have already opened the schools. Many states are planning to reopen schools in November. Tamil Nadu has decided to reopen schools from November 16 onwards, while Odisha will reopen schools from November 16 for classes 9 to 12, and for other classes, the school will remain closed till November 30.

Sainik Schools to bring in OBC reservations in admissions

In a major development, Sainik Schools across the country will introduce OBC reservations as part of their admission process from academic session 2020-21. Defence Secretary said that reservation for Backward Class (OBC) will be introduced for Sainik Schools starting from next academic year i.e. 2021-22.

As per the information provided by Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar, a total of 27 per cent seats in Sainik schools will be reserved for other backward classes (OBCs) from the academic session of 2021-22. The news was shared by Mr Kumar through a tweet, which read “OBC reservation to be introduced in Sainik Schools from the year 2021-22.”

As part of the tweet, he also shared images of official notification dated 13th October 2020 which has been sent to principals of all Sainik schools across the country.

Currently, there are around 33 Sainik Schools spread across the country, which work under the Ministry of Defence. All the 33 Sainik Schools, which are residential in nature, will introduce OBC reservation from 2021-22 academic session. The circular read “67 per cent of the seats in a Sainik school are reserved for candidates from the state or the Union Territory in which the school is located and the remaining 33 per cent is reserved for those who come from outside that state or UT. These two lists will be termed List A and List B.”
