The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has formally declared MP Board 12th Supply Result 2020. Students from Class 12 who have appeared for the Supplementary Exam 2020, can now check their individual (HSSC) on mpbse.nic.in.

The Madhya Pradesh Board held the MPBSE HSSC Compartmental Exams 2020 from 14th Sept 2020 onwards across the state. The exam was held amid strict adherence to COVID precautions and guidelines. Students who had failed in the MP Board 12th Results 2020 announced earlier for March 2020 exam, in two or less subjects, were eligible to register and apply for the examination.

NCTE extends certificate of teacher eligibility test validity for a lifetime

To provide relief to teachers, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has extended CTET & TET certificate validity for a lifetime now. With this move, candidates who have qualified the CTET and TET examination can apply for teacher recruitment all through their lifetime. Earlier the validity for these certificates was till 7 years from the date of issue.

The decision to extend the validity was taken during the 50th Meeting of the NCTE’s General Body that was held on September 29. Among several issues discussed by the Commission in the meeting, this was one of the major topics.

The Council on October 13 titled ‘Minutes of the 50th Meeting of the General Body of NCTE held on 29th September 2020”, the Council considered the agenda item and approved the validity of the TET certificate changing it from 7 years to the Lifetime. This provision would have a prospective effect and for those who have already passed out (already having TET certificate), NCTE would take legal action and will act accordingly.

Meanwhile, CTET Exam Dates 2020 has not been released yet. CBSE has said that they will announce the exam dates when it’s conducive to conduct the exams. The examination dates would be available on the official site of CBSE CTET on ctet.nic.in. This year more than 10 lakh students who appear for the CTET examination and the examination will be conducted in 112 cities across the country.

Centre issues draft rules for Rashtriya Raksha University Act

The Centre has issued draft rules for the Rashtriya Raksha University Act 2020, which was enacted in Parliament’s monsoon session. The university will impart education on policing, research and collaboration of various wings of policing, criminal justice system and correctional administration.

The Rashtriya Raksha University in Gujarat will replace the Raksha Shakti University. While the Raksha Shakti University was a state university, the Rashtriya Raksha University will be a central institute, the Act states. The draft rules state the vice-chancellor will suggest a panel of not less than five names each for the post of chairperson and members of the governing body, preferably within eight weeks prior to the likely date of the vacancy.

The central government may consider the panel suggested by the vice-chancellor while selecting the members of the governing body.

The term of office of non ex-officio members of the governing body shall be for a period of three years or till the time they hold the position by virtue of which they are appointed, whichever is earlier.

The university will promote global standards and provide dynamic and high standards of learning and research; working environment dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of education, research, training and scholarship of the highest quality in the domain of policing including coastal policing, security, law enforcement, criminal justice, cyber security, cyber crime, artificial intelligence and related areas of internal security; and public safety.

Pokhriyal lauds IIT Kharagpur for ‘COVIRAP’

In a huge relief, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT )Kharagpur has developed a new diagnostic machine for coronavirus test named ‘COVIRAP’. The new machine has got the Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR certification for its efficacy in COVID-19 detection. The machine can complete the testing process in an hour.

Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, “I am glad the researchers from IIT Kharagpur have achieved the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat through this medical technology innovation. I congratulate Prof. V.K. Tewari, Director, IIT Kharagpur, and the research team led by Prof. Suman Chakraborty and Dr. Arindam Mondal for this path-breaking innovation taking molecular diagnostics from high-end labs to the field.”

This new testing method implements a highly reliable and accurate molecular diagnostic procedure, conducted in an ultra-low-cost portable device unit. With this innovation, accurate COVID testing at affordable prices will be available to common people. Each testing will cost Rs 500/- which can be further reduced through government intervention. This total cost of the machine is less than Rs 10000/- with the minimal infrastructural requirement.

The research team was led by Professor Suman Chakraborty and Dr. Arindam Mondal. The new machine was rigorously tested with patient samples by an authorized ICMR laboratory by following their strict guidelines.

Meanwhile this year none of the JEE Advanced 2020 toppers choose IIT Kharagpur for studying. Over the years, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur are slowing losing their status. The majority of the toppers chose IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi followed by IIT Madras.

Maharashtra makes mandate for teachers to attend child rights training

Keeping the students safety in mind, the Maharashtra education department has made it mandatory for teachers across the state to attend a three-day-long training on Child Rights and Protection. The programme was done in order to create awareness about child rights in respective schools.

The training is being held between October 20 and 22 and schools have been asked to ensure 100% attendance of its teachers. ‘Ensuring the physical and psychological well being of the children is the responsibility of the state government.

Teachers have to ensure that the rights of students are protected and should spread the word in their respective schools,’ says the circular issued by the education department.

On the first day of training however, teachers reported several glitches in attending the training. “Many were not able to register themselves despite trying multiple times. Even the video link which was given to teachers did not work and teachers had a tough time,” said one teacher.

Teachers urged the department to come up with ways of reaching out to students who had poor or no internet access.

“Right to Education is the biggest right of the student and when students are not able to join online learning, it is a big violation of their right. We hope that the department addresses this issue,” said  another teacher.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lauded the performance of state government school students who have cleared NEET, JEE exams 2020.

This year a total of 569 students of Delhi government schools have qualified in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test and 443 students have cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), with 53 of them being eligible for a direct admission to IITs, revealed the CM.

He said the money will not be a problem for the successful students in getting higher education as the Delhi government has arranged for scholarships and loans of up to Rs 10 lakh for them.

Of the 569 students who have qualified in the NEET examination, 379 are girls. Kejriwal further said that there are 37 students who have secured ranks in the top 10,000 (category ranks) in the NEET. Twenty-nine students from a Delhi government school in Moladband, 24 from a Yamuna Vihar school, and 23 from a Noor Nagar school have qualified in the NEET. Along with this, 48 Delhi government school students have scored over 520 marks out of 720 in the NEET, with Tamanna Goel bagging the 11th rank.

In the JEE, 2 students of RPVV, Paschim Vihar have qualified for the IITs. Ayush Bansal, whose father works at a bookshop, has bagged the 189th rank in the JEE, the chief minister said to PTI. IIT Bombay has offered an aerospace engineering course to Nikhil, who got the 678th rank. Nikhil’s father repairs the cycle. Garvit Batra bagged the 1,228th rank and his father is an airconditioner mechanic, Kejriwal said.

UP Board 10th and 12th compartmental results 2020 declared

Providing relief to students, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has officially announced the UP Board 10th and 12th Compartmental Results 2020. Students who have appeared for the compartmental exams can now check their results at upmsp.edu.in.

Around 33 thousand students received their UP Board Compartmental Results 2020. As per the pre-exam data shared by UPMSP, a total of 33,344 students appeared for the UP Board 10th and 12th Exam 2020 held on 3rd October 2020. Of this number, around 15,839 students appeared for Class 10 Compartmental / Improvement Exam while the rest 17,505 students appeared for Intermediate Compartmental Exam 2020. From 2020 session, UP Board stated holding compartmental exams for Class 12 students as well.

MBBS seats in West Bengal increases to 4,000

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has announced that the number of seats in the MBBS course had been increased to 4,000 in the state medical colleges after the addition of 250 seats. The CM had earlier impressed upon the idea of increasing the number of medical seats in the state.

Mamata Banerjee took to her Twitter handle to inform the students of the increase in seats. “I am pleased to announce that we now have 4,000 MBBS seats for Bengal’s vibrant medical students with the initiation of the first MBBS batch in Purulia Govt MCH consisting of 100 seats & the addition of 150 MBBS seats in Gouri Devi Medical College,” she said.

In 2019, the minister of state for health Chandrima Bhattacharya had informed, “the assembly that the number of MBBS seats in West Bengal was 1,355 when the Trinamool Congress government came to power in the state in 2011.”

Candidates who have qualified for the NEET 2020 examination with the minimum required percentile would be eligible to participate in the counselling round. DGHS has been entrusted to conducting NEET counselling 2020 for 15% seats of the total intake from all the government colleges (except for colleges of Jammu and Kashmir state) for All India Quota candidates.

Class 10 students can apply for ICAI CA foundational course

Good news for class 10 students as now, they are also eligible to apply for CA foundational. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) claims to have received approval from the government for amending the entry requirement for the Chartered Accountancy (CA) courses. Under the new requirement, class 10 students can apply for the foundation courses of ICAI. Until now, students who clear class 12 were eligible to apply for the course.

Atul Kumar Gupta, President, ICAI said: “The Institute has recently got the approval of Government of India for amending the Regulations 25E, 25F & 28F of Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988 which now enables a candidate to provisionally register in the Foundation Course of ICAI after passing class 10 examinations. However, provisional admission to Foundation course will only be regularised once the candidate clears class 12 exams.”

Students who provisionally register in the foundation course after passing the class 10 exam will have more time during class 11 and 12 to acquire requisite techniques to appear for CA foundation exams. However, only those students will be allowed to appear for the foundation exam held in May/June, who appeared in the class 12 exam in February or March, as per the official statement by ICAI.

The early entry will allow students to complete the CA course and become Chartered Accountant, six months in advance, due to early admission, claims ICAI.

NTA corrects NEET Result blunder after category topper flags discrepancy

According to reports, the NEET 2020 results of the NEET 2020 topper in the ST Category was shown ‘Failed’. The agency rectified its mistake after the category topper raised the issue with the NTA over the marks shown in the results.

The NEET 2020 Results were declared by the National Testing Agency on October 16, 2020.

Seventeen-year-old Mridul Rawat from Rajasthan was shown a result of 329 out of 720 whereas according to the calculations based on the answer key Mridul secured 650. The same was then challenged based on the recorded response OMR sheet and answer key. The same was also pointed out in a tweet by Mridul following which the NTA rechecked the results and it was found that he secured 650 on 720 on the NEET 2020 exams.

Mridul has secured a rank of 3577 under the general category ranking.

The National Testing Agency committed a mistake in the result sheet of Mridul in which the mark tally was shown as 650 but the marks under the word column stated three Hundred and Twenty Nine Marks. Mridul then approached the NTA to make the corrections and later on the agency released the corrected mark sheet with the marks in the work column having the correct marks.

According to the rank list released, Soyeb Aftab and Akanksha Singh topped the exams with 720 marks out of 720.
