A three day workshop was held from February 13- 15, 2010, where 35 participants were hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, including principals, chairpersons, and so on from the Global Indian International Schools (GIIS), Singapore. This was done under partnership between the Singapore headquartered Global Indian International network of schools and a series of innovations in education pioneered by the (IIM-K), under the programme titled, the 'Leading Schools' programme. The objective of the programme was to create a paradigm defining how international education with Indian values can be re-imported into India. This initiative was to create new milestones in K-12 education.
GIIS offer International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) education along with a host of unique programmes. Managed by the Singapore headquartered Global Indian Foundation (GIF), which provides world class education in different countries to Indians and global citizens, GIIS schools offer an international/world class education with Indian values. The IIM-K team under the leadership of Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM-K and the GIIS leadership team led by Atul Temurnikar and GIF management, Principals and Directors from six countries worked together under the IIM led 'Leading Schools' programme.
