On Wednesday, an umbrella group of teachers’ unions occupied the Punjab School Education Board offices in Sector 62, Mohali, demanding job regularization and pay raises.

Hundreds of teachers stormed the building’s seventh level, laying siege to the Education Secretary’s office.

Around five people were observed on the roof of the structure, holding petrol-filled bottles.

A large police team is on the scene, led by Mohali SSP Satinder Singh.

Approximately 500 ad-hoc teachers surrounded the premises and demanded a meeting with Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla.
