
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has resigned from the Ministry of Education, according to sources.
The minister was admitted to hospital after complications due to a Covid infection. He tested positive in April. His health is being cited as the reason for his resignation.
His resignation came hours before the Modi government is yet to decide on the cabinet reshuffle. The government will announce the new list of cabinet ministers this evening by 6 pm.
Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ political career started in 1991 when he was elected from Karnaprayag, Uttar Pradesh. He was the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand before joining the education ministry. He is also a member of the 16th Lok Sabha. He is a writer and has written many novels, stories and poems.
