Google, the technology giant, paid an animated tribute to the educators via ‘Google Doodle’ on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.
Google Doodle is a special but temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages.
It is intended to celebrate events, holidays, achievements and notable historical figures. Interestingly, the first-ever Google Doodle was made in 1998 in honour of the Burning Man Festival.
The teacher’s day doodle shows a red Octopus (posing as teacher) conducting an underwater class where fishes are taking lessons from him.
The teaching board is divided into different sections – giving space to various subjects including Mathematics, Chemistry and Music. The teacher (octopus) stands in the middle and can be seen doing multitasking – imparting lessons, collecting assignments, conducting experiments, solving equations; thanks to his eight limbs.
Unlike Octopus, human teachers are not blessed with eight limbs but they have been performing the duties of an all-rounder in classrooms, since eternity. And Teacher’s Day is the perfect occasion to thank them for their sincere efforts and hard work in shaping the future of children.
Today, Teacher’s Day is being celebrated across the country to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on September 5, 1989 in the state of Tamil Nadu. Since 1962, when he took over as the President of India, the country is celebrating Teachers’ Day on his birthday.
On this day, teachers and students report to schools as usual but the usual learning sessions are replaced with celebration, thanks and remembrance.
