Huawei Devices has announced the launch of Cloud Services for the first time in Indiaand appointed Chetan Bhagat as a Brand Associate. Huawei unveiled MediaPad and two New Generation Cloud phones – Huawei Sonic and Huawei IDEOS X3 for the tech and style oriented Indian audiences.

The explosive growth of content, multi-device ownerships, range of connectivity options, social networking services and any time anywhere access has driven the need for Cloud Services world-wide and in India. Huawei Cloud+ service offers 16GB Cloud disk for storage, richer messaging with Message+ to share texts, pictures, videos and voice notes, Phone Finder to locate, back-up and lock, Cloud Gallery to easier viewing and sharing, Huawei Streams for integrated social phonebook experience, Huawei App Store for popular Indian and global apps, Sync Data and Over the air(OTA) Solution for OS upgrade. Huawei Cloud+ services enable easy downloads and sharing of content and anytime, anywhere, any device access.

Elsevier conducts Library Connect Seminars across India

Elsevier conducted series of “Library Connect Seminars” in Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Chennai, Trivandrum and Kolkata.

Library connect seminars witnessed participation from more than 160 library and information officers from different AICTE approved institutes. Presentations delivered during the seminar made participants aware how Scientific contents adds value to the academics and help the institute students to equip themselves better which enhances their job prospects.

These seminars also provided a platform for Elsevier colleagues from around the world and librarians to come together and share their views and best practices, also how Elsevier is involved in improving India’s scientific research output.

Adeline Yap Kuhendran , (Director Sales – Asia Pacific) explained how Elsevier has been involved with different government research and academic institutions in India and how we are constantly working towards strengthening this partnership.

Remco Berrevoets (Business Development Manager – Amsterdam) presented insights on the impressive scientific article growth from India and how Elsevier’s’ journals are contributing to this. Furthermore he explained how scientific information add value to the academics qualification by improving critical thinking and analytical skills development which eventually enhances employment opportunities.

Recently Elsevier and AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) has got into an Understanding to provide Sciverse ScienceDirect to AICTE approved technical institutions In India. Manik Sethi (Customer Development Manager – South Asia) discussed the change in the role of a librarian in 21st century and how they can act as an vital interface between the scientific content and the students community. G P Birla Observatory and Astronomical Research Centre launched in Hyderabad

Continuing its endeavor to promote awareness and education in astronomy and science and make it available to the common man, Nirmala Birla and family, is all set to open to the public the G P Birla Observatory and Astronomical Research Centre, which is slated to be the best amateur Observatory in India, at the B M Birla Science Centre.

The G P Birla Observatory and Astronomical Centre, built at a cost of more than 20 crore, is an iconic building of five floors with a total built up area of 65, 000 sq.ft. It is situated within the sprawling B M Birla Science Centre, with its terraced gardens at Naubat Pahad and is a tribute to one of the greatest visionaries and philanthropists of India, Padma Bhushan Late Ganga Prasad Birla.

Commenting on the launch of the project, Nirmala Birla wife of late G P Birla said, “Over the years, we have served millions of people by bringing the mysteries of science, astronomy and archeology, within everyone’s reach at the B.M. Birla Science Centre. The G P Birla Observatory and Astronomical Centre which is a part of the centre now, enables all enthusiasts to further their interests in research, studying the wonders of the sky and witness the astronomical world from close quarters. The B M Birla Science Centre and the G P Birla Observatory are initiatives that are built on the foundation of late G P Birla’s passion for science, archeology and astronomy in particular and the vision to serve the humanity.”

Robotix Lab Research Academy develops new curriculum on Robotics

The Robotix Lab Research Academy has developed a new curriculum on Robotics, which is aligned to the Science and Mathematics syllabus prescribed by NCERT. This curriculum on Robotics has been accepted and integrated into the regular course work of two schools Calibre Academy, Mylapore and Surana Jain Vidhyalaya, Sowcarpet. In the past three years, Robotix Lab Research Academy has trained more than 2,500 students in the age group of 8 and 21 in different courses involving the mechanical, electrical, electronics and programming aspects of Robotics. A special exhibition on Robots based on the Android platform and the Robotic Arm are kept on display. Students, teachers and parents can walk in at their convenience to the lab for a free demo.
To keep pace with the growing demand from students on Robotics courses the Robotix Lab Research Academy (RLRA) has moved to a bigger and better place in T.Nagar. Dr. G. Gangi Reddy, Technology Business Incubator , University of Madras, inaugurated the new premises of RLRA.
Dr. G. Gangi Reddy in his speech emphasized on the necessity of “Robotics Education” for all in future. “Robotics in schools ignites passion in children as there is a huge fascination on the subject among them. This should be used to facilitate a better learning technique for the students.”
