“Similar to the integrated approach that we have been able to achieve in the B2C segment, we intend to offer a complete suite of products to our enterprise partners. A combination of upskilling courses along with these critical skills that Harappa has to offer would set us apart. We see strong demand from our clients and with Harappa coming in, we believe we’ll be able to grow exponentially within the segment as we cross-leverage the synergies. Yogi Adityanath reviews NEP implementation in UP

Yogi Adityanath ji

As directed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, educational institutions in the state have been asked to promote technology in education with focus on quality. He stated this while chairing a department-wise review meeting for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.

He said along with teaching-learning, universities and higher institutions should fulfil their responsibility towards society.

The chief minister said that inter-disciplinary research on local issues should be encouraged. The research topics should be social, national, and globally relevant.

Emphasising the need for quality research, the chief minister said that 77.7% of the total population of Uttar Pradesh lives in rural areas. Therefore, under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme (UBA), educational institutions should be connected to rural areas with an emphasis on conducting courses related to rural development.

The CM said there is a need to encourage private investment in school education, and the education system should be compatible with the global ecosystem. Adityanath said the best practices of many educational institutions in the private sector, which are doing commendable work, should be implemented in government institutions.

Ministers and officers of the basic, secondary, higher, technical, agriculture and vocational education departments were present at the meeting. The officials have been asked to take these instructions to their respective departments at the earliest.

The CM also asked all eligible institutes in the state to get NAAC grading. He said that after the implementation of NEP at the graduation level from the current session, it should be implemented at the post-graduate level from the next session.

Chief Minister said more than ₹6200 crore has been invested for the development of infrastructure facilities in 1.33 lakh schools, and a proxy teacher in a school was unacceptable. Under the Nipun Bharat Abhiyan, innovative schemes like weekly education schemes, libraries in schools and school leadership programmes etc have been implemented, the CM added.

CM also directed that 5,000 ‘Abhyudaya Composite Schools’ should be established in the next four years.

Uttarakhand becomes the first state to implement NEP model at the pre-primary level

Pushkar Singh Dhami

In a fresh development, Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has inaugurated ‘Bal Vatikas’, an initiative under the National Education Policy (NEP) at anganwadi kendras across the state. With this, Uttarakhand has become the first state to implement the National Education Policy in India. The state has initiated the process of implementing the said policy to beef up its pre-primary education system.

Reportedly, the ‘Bal Vatikas’ will be set up at 4,457 anganwadi kendras in the state and those will stand equal with the nursery classes of a private school.

Dhami, at the event, said the implementation of the NEP policy is a fresh start to a culture-conducive education system in the country where it will focus on the overall personality development of the student. He said, “The NEP will lay the foundation of a strong and bright future of youngsters.”

The CM also inaugurated an NCERT building there on the day, while ensuring that all such projects being inaugurated by him will get completed during his tenure only. “No project will be left hanging. We will ensure that every project whose foundation stone is being laid sees the light of day,” he said.

The CM also talked about the importance of starting the process of drafting a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which he promised ahead of the state assembly polls held earlier this year.

“After giving a go-ahead to the proposal at our very first cabinet meeting, we have already constituted a committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai to prepare a draft of the UCC which will be implemented after taking all stakeholders into confidence,” Dhami said.

Further, the CM also said his government initiatives are aligned with the objective of making Uttarakhand a leading state by 2025. The year, when the state will be completing 25 years of its formation.

The Minister also said his department has taken the initiative of showcasing Uttarakhand as an example for other states. He said, all departments in the state have been instructed to make at least two outstanding achievements by that year–those can inspire other states to follow as well.

Present at the occasion, Dhan Singh Rawat, Education Minister, Uttarakhand spoke about how NEP replaces ‘English as the medium of instruction for higher education’ as an education policy in India (Macaulay system of education) which was followed in the country for decades.

“It offers children an opportunity to pursue choice-based education. They can now study the subjects of their choice in the language they are conversant with. By 2030, NEP will be fully implemented in Uttarakhand,” Rawat said.
