In an interaction with the CBSE officials, state education secretaries, the education minister is likely to take a call whether it would be feasible to hold the 12 board exams as per schedule.

He is also scheduled to work on the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact it has had in the education scenario in the country. There will be promotion of online education, implementation of the New Education policy and preparation made by states.

A section of students and parents have been demanding cancellation of exams in view of the pandemic situation, till now, CBSE has not taken any decision of cancellation of the examinations.

A number of board examination students have been tweeting the CBSE board, Prime Minister’s Office, and Union Education Ministry seeking the cancellation of CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021, given the situation of Covid-19 outbreak in India.

CBSE & CISCE Examinations cancellation plea goes to Supreme Court

A request to cancel the class 12 board exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has been filed in the Supreme Court.

The plea has been filed by advocate Mamta Sharma requesting to assess the class 12 students on the basis of objective methodology.

The petition highlighted, “Conducting Class 12 board examination is not possible because of surging COVID-19 cases. Even online or offline examination not feasible because of unprecedented pandemic. Delay in declaration of Class 12 results will hamper students taking admission in foreign universities.”

“CBSE and CISCE must devise an object methodology to declare the results within specified time otherwise it will affect around 12 lakh students,” it added.

“These are all speculations, the board has nothing to do with it. CBSE will review the covid-19 situation in June, and the decision to conduct or postpone the exams will be taken then,” a CBSE official.

The official, added, if the present situation does not improve, then the board will have fewer options rather than to cancel the exams. “If the exams could not be conducted in July, then we can not further delay conducting the exam. As the entire exam process takes more than a month including evaluation of copies and result declaration. If suppose the result be declared by the end of August, how will the students take admission in varsities, higher education institutions.” CBSE, in that scenario may follow the assessment criteria of class 10, but its early to say, the official has informed.

The Madhya Pradesh school education department has cancelled the class XII board exams. The students will now be assessed based on their mid-term exams or pre-boards, unit tests, and internal assessment.

The pre-boards will hold 50 percent weightage, unit tests. Along with it the past three years’ performance of schools will be considered.

In case a candidate does not obtain the minimum passing marks which is 33 percent, they will be given grace marks and will be promoted to the next class.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) class 12 exams will now be held in June, the exact dates are not yet announced.

The Madhya Pradesh School Education Department has declared class 10 board exams and postponed the class 12 board exams postponed until further notice.

The class 10 students results will be evaluated on the basis of an alternative assessment scheme. They can visit the official website of the MP Board regularly for updates.

The Board is following the similar marking policy as released by CBSE.

Schools will evaluate the students on the total marks of 100 for each paper. 80 marks will be based on students’ performance in pre-board exams, half-yearly exams, unit test and the remaining 20 marks will be based on internal assessment of the students done during the academic year.

REET 2021 Examination postponed

The Rajasthan government has again postponed the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teacher 2021 (REET 2021). REET 2021 was scheduled for June 20, 2021. However, now it is postponed.

Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra, has mentioned that the primary focus of the government is to save lives during the pandemic. REET 2021 will be conducted after the situation becomes better.

This is the second time that the state government has postponed the REET 2021 exam. Earlier, the exam was scheduled for April 25, but it was postponed due to a sudden rise in Covid-19 cases. Candidates are requested to keep an eye on the official website for any updates regarding the new dates of REET 2021.

CBSE to follow assessment plan for Class 12

There is a possibility that the CBSE might follow the assessment plan for CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 for evaluating CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 candidates if the COVID-19 situation in the country is not improved.

A CBSE official said, “It’s too early to say, but if the situation worsens, the CBSE may follow the assessment plan of class 10.” He further informed, “We cannot further delay conducting the exam after July as the entire exam process takes more than a month including evaluation of copies and result declaration.”

A large section of Class 12 Board Exam 2021 students has taken on Twitter to demand the cancellation of the board exams. The petition has also crossed 72,000 signatures by May 10, 2021. Candidates have taken on Twitter by using the hashtag #saveboardstudents.

Incidentally, the CBSE has announced the assessment criteria for CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 students. For CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 assessment, 20 marks are allotted to internal assessment and 80 marks for the year-end board exams. As the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 has been cancelled, the CBSE-affiliated schools will assess the 80 marks of the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 students in the following ways:

a) based on the marks scored by the candidate in different tests/exams conducted by the school in the course of the year

b) the marks should be in consonance with the past performance of the school in CBSE Class 10 Board exams

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from CBSE and hence all eyes are on the crucial meeting on June 1, 2021, that will decide whether the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be cancelled or further postponed till the month of July.

NIOS Board Exam 2021 fee submission extended till May 15

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has extended the last date to submit exam fee for secondary and senior secondary courses. The fee submission window will now remain open till May 15. The fee is for students who wish to appear for NIOS June 2021 exams.

Due to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, NIOS is yet to confirm the schedule of June 2021 examinations. The situation will be reviewed on May 20. NIOS might reconsider the exam dates for secondary and senior secondary exams.

The students of classes 10 and 12, are attending lectures through DTH channels. The service offered under PMeVidya is aimed at students who do not have access to the internet and are unable to attend online classes during the pandemic.

NIOS officials has been directed to align their syllabus with NCERTs. Among several suggestions was to create a dashboard which would sustain detailed information and contacts of all centers across the country.

AICTE is offering 2500 virtual internships

The All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) is offering around 2,500 virtual internships through The Urban Learning Internship Program (TULIP). Those candidates who are interested they can apply through the website- internship.aicte-india.org.

It offers internships for upto one year to fresh graduates, students with undergraduate degrees can apply for internships within 18 months from their date of completion of graduation. The diploma or graduation students with excellent communication skills in Hindi and English can apply for the internship programme. The interns will get a monthly stipend of Rs 12,000.

The Urban Learning Internship Program was launched in 2020, a joint effort of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

UPPSC releases eligibility criteria 2021

The UPPSC exam is conducted to find and recruit state government employees within the Provincial Civil Services department and other departments of the UP government. Here are the main eligibility criteria for the UPPSC, as per the UPPSC 2021 Notification.

The Minimum age limit is 21 years and candidates must not have crossed 40 years of age as on July 1, 2021. Upper Age Limit Relaxation for reserved categories:

SC/ST/OBC/Sports Person/UP Govt Employee: 5 Years

Ex-Servicemen: 10 Years

PH: 15 Years

Educational Qualification: Candidates should be Graduate with a Bachelors Degree from a recognised university. Different vacancies may different specialisation requirements in graduation. Candidates pursuing the final year of their graduation are also eligible for applying for UPPSC.

Female candidates who are pregnant (12 weeks or more) will be declared temporarily unfit.

Candidates claiming age relaxation/reservation in more than one category for the UP PCS Exam shall be entitled to only one concession, whichever is more beneficial.

CBSE to finalise results by May 25

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed the schools to upload marks of class 10 students. The Schools will finalise the results by May 25, and will submit the marks to CBSE by June 5.

The link through which marks will be submitted has been made live on the e-Pariksha 2021 portal- cbseit.in/cbse/web/regn/login.aspx.

The students will be assessed out of a maximum of 100 marks for each subject. While 20 marks have to be submitted by the schools as internal assessment, the remaining 80 marks will be based on scores in periodic tests, half-yearly or mid-term exams and pre-board examinations. The class 10 result is scheduled to be released on June 20.
