Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said the state has seen “massive changes” in education over the past four years, opening new colleges and universities and regulating university sessions.

The deputy CM said around 28 new private universities and 51 state colleges coming across the state.

He said the digital library which is in the state has one lakh e-content in 134 subjects in Hindi and English languages. Its success can be gauged from the fact that the National Digital Library of India of IIT Kharagpur has sent a proposal of partnership to the state government. Agreement will be made soon.

Sharma, who also owns the education portfolio, said “In the last four years the field of education has changed dramatically. For the first time, academic sessions have been regulated by universities and colleges. We will announce the academic calendar and take exams in July,” he stated.

The deputy chief minister said new universities were being established in the state and letters of intent had been sent to 30 private universities.

“A dozen universities have taken proposals in various committees. The government will approve them soon,” he said.

To boost the research, Sharma said the government ordered the establishment of the Prof Rajendra Singh Rajju Bhaiyya Institute of Physical Science of Study and Research Centre, Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Shodh Peeth and develop Siddhartha Vishwavidyalaya Kapilvastu as International Buddhist Centre and Centre for Excellence in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

The Union Health Department has written to the University Grants Commission (UGC) asking universities to work together on mass immunization against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The ministry said that universities and institutions should help spread information about the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine among the population.

The center also announced that the vaccination campaign would begin on January 16, 2021 and would immunize more than 30 million frontline and healthcare workers.

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) had approved two Indian manufacturers on January 3, 2021, namely Covidshield, developed by AstraZeneca in the UK and the University of Oxford, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and Covaxin, manufactured by Bharat Biotech.

In the letter from UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain, it was stated that a smooth and successful implementation of the immunization program is needed to proactively support all stakeholders, including universities and colleges. The UGC secretary added that universities must play an important role with the network and its platforms to support the launch campaign for the vaccination program. He also asked for a personal intervention for the successful implementation of the vaccination programme.

The Union Department of Health and Family Welfare has said that facing an evolving scenario in vaccine development and adoption presents challenges, including ensuring that more than 1.3 billion people in the country receive correct information and updates and timely information about the benefits of the Receive vaccine and the implementation process.

Amazon India launches “Amazon Academy” to help students for JEE Exam

To prepare students for the JEE 2021 exam, Amazon India has launched “Amazon Academy”. This academy helps students prepare for access to engineering schools. The beta version of the academy would be available for free on the Internet and in the Google Play Store.

In a statement, Amazon India said that the online preparation offering will provide students with the in-depth knowledge and practice routines required for JEE through organized study materials, live lectures and comprehensive math assessments, physics and chemistry.

The statement reads: “Amazon Academy provides students with a variety of JEE preparation resources to get started, including specially designed mock tests by industry experts, over 15,000 carefully curated questions with hints and solutions detailed practices, step by step. “

The Academy will also conduct All India Live Mock Testing (AIMT) at regular intervals. Through these mock tests, students will understand the nuances of the JEE exam.

Additionally, the academy enables active learning through live teaching and helps students increase their JEE readiness efforts by providing real-time collaboration with experts, learning concepts, and clearing up questions. Gujarat govt announces recruitment to over 6,600 posts in schools, colleges

The Gujarat government announced the hiring of a total of 6,616 new jobs in special schools and institutions of higher education across the country.

State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama gave details of the announcement in a statement, saying 927 assistant professors will be recruited for grants through a centralized statewide recruitment process at non-public universities. These 927 assistant teachers are hired for 44 different subjects.

“The hiring was announced to advance careers through employment opportunities in higher and secondary education in the state and to maximize employment opportunities in the education sector,” said Chudasama.

In addition, the state government will hire a total of 5,700 assistant teachers in secondary and non-state secondary schools. As a result, 3,382 assistant teachers will be recruited in upper secondary and 2,307 in secondary schools.

Chudasama went into detail about the hiring of 3,382 assistant teachers in secondary schools, saying that it is 624 for English, 446 for accounting and business, 334 for sociology, 276 for economics, 254 for Gujarati and other subjects.

Also, 2,307 assistant teachers are being recruited in secondary schools, including 1,037 in mathematics and science, 442 in English, 289 in social studies, 234 in Gujarati and other subjects.

Byju’s to acquire Aakash Educational Services for $1 billion

Byju’s has apparently signed a deal to acquire Aakash Educational Services Ltd, backed by Blackstone, for $ 1 billion. India’s largest online education company, Byju’s, worth $ 12 billion, was eager to grow as demand for online courses peaked during the pandemic.

This deal will be one of the largest edtech acquisitions in the world. The Aakash Institute, with more than 200 physical centers across the country, teaches students access to India’s elite medical and engineering colleges. These institutes have more than 2,50,000 students.

Post-pandemic learning centers, offline or physical, including schools and training institutes, have been successful while online courses have flourished.

Byju’s, based in Bangalore, was founded in 2011 by Byju Raveendran. In August 2015, after four years of development, the company launched Byju’s: The Learning App. The Byju app is intended for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

India has around 250 million students from kindergarten to grade 12. The app offers math and science lessons through video animations and games.

According to Byju, more than 70 million users from more than 1,700 cities across the country signed up last September when a fundraiser was announced. More than 4.5 million of them are paying users. In the current fiscal year, ending March 2021, sales are expected to double to $ 1 billion.

Delhi to reopen schools from Jan 18 for class 10 and 12 students

After nearly ten months of closure, the Delhi government on Wednesday allowed the government and government-sponsored schools in the state capital to reopen for class 10 and 12 starting on January 18 to prepare and take lessons practical work in front of the board.

Pokhriyal reviews implementation of NEP 2020; suggests forming taskforce

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal held a high-level meeting with senior Ministry of Education officials at his residence to review progress in implementing the new 2020 education policy and suggested setting up a task force and two committees to facilitate its implementation.

Officials said the education minister reviewed progress in implementing NEP 2020 during the hour-long meeting.

During the meeting, the NEP 2020 goal of universalizing education from kindergarten through high school was discussed.

The Union’s cabinet approved the new education policy in July last year, which has several objectives, including the universalization of education from preschool to high school. Pokhriyal also urged that the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) and the National Research Foundation (NRF), two key elements of the 2020 NEP reform agenda, be established between 2021 and 2022.

According to a statement from the ministry, Pokhriyal called on stakeholders to ensure synergies between NEP implementation and existing government policies. He also noted that he allows connections between industry and science for better results. In July last year, the Union Cabinet approved NEP-2020, which replaced the 1986 education policy, with the aim of universalizing education from kindergarten through high school. NEP 2020 calls for the creation of a large multidisciplinary institution of higher education (HEI) in or near each district by 2030.

The policy also calls for doubling the gross enrollment ratio (GER) in education. higher, from 26.3% today to 50% in 2025.

Odisha govt exempts fees for students appearing in board examinations

Given the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, on people’s livelihoods across Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that the state government will not impose tuition fees on Class 10 exam fees from students.

Patnaik has decided to waive the cost of the annual exam organized by the Council on Secondary Education for the benefit of students. The state registration exam is scheduled to begin on May 3, 2021 of this year.

“The state government will pay Rs 27 crore for this account and more than 6 lakh of students will benefit,” the chief minister said in a statement. Each candidate who has taken the annual high school end-of-school exam is supposed to pay Rs 420 to complete the forms.

Patnaik said the education sector was one of the hardest hit by the pandemic, as students were unable to attend classes for nine long months, affecting their studies.

“No student is denied the opportunity to take the annual board exam for Class 10 for financial reasons,” said Patnaik.

The state government, which is monitoring the drop in the reporting of new COVID-19 cases in Odisha, reopened schools for students in the final year of Standards X and XII as of January 8. Previously, the Odisha government had arranged for free transportation and accommodation for students who appeared in the state late last year after the coronavirus outbreak on NEET, JEE exams.

Khan Academy gets $5 Million from Musk Foundation

Business mogul and the world’s richest person, Elon Musk, recently donated $ 5 million to the American non-profit educational organization Khan Academy through his Musk Foundation to promote online education.

Elon Musk, co-founded the private charitable foundation with his brother Kimbal in 2002, providing philanthropy in a variety of fields including education, renewable energy research, human space exploration, pediatric research and development of ‘Ensuring Artificial Intelligence for the Benefit of Humanity.

“I just want to thank Elon Musk and all the members of the Musk Foundation. They recently donated $ 5 million to Khan Academy for their credible and generous support of Khan Academy,” said the founder of the Khan Academy, Sal Khan.
