PM Modi interacts with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar winners

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised children’s contribution to raising awareness of handwashing during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that if they were part of it, a program would be successful.

When interacting with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar winners via video conference, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the winners, saying that they should never stop working and be humble all the time. He also asked them to work for the country and urged them to think about what they could do as the nation approaches its 75th anniversary.

The prime minister also asked them to read biographies and said they would continue to inspire them. Speaking to a boy who made farm equipment, Modi said that modern agriculture is the necessity of the land.

Children have also played an important role in raising awareness of sanitation through the Swachh Bharat program, he said. The Government of India has awarded the Bal Shakti Puraskar under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to children of outstanding ability and outstanding achievement in innovation, sports, arts and culture, social service, educational field and courage.

For PMRBP-2021, Bal Shakti Puraskar selected a total of 32 applicants from across the country in different categories.

100 students to watch Republic Day Parade from PM’s Box

The 2021 Republic Day parade will miss the gravity-defying motorcycle stunts. It is a major draw for the Crown during the Republic Day celebrations on Rajpath. The number of spectators participating in the Republic Day parade has also dropped to 25,000. This year’s parade will also miss the parade of bravery award winners and children who received bravery awards due to the COVID-19 pandemic and posted guidelines, including social distancing.

UP will provide free coaching for many competitive exams

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the launch of an ambitious free training program to help students prepare for various competitions.

The free training center called “Abhyudaya” will begin next Basant Panchmi on the day of worship to the Goddess of Learning, Saraswati, Adityanath said during his speech on the founding day of the state. “From the day of Basant Panchami, ‘Abhyudaya’, the free training center will start for state students to take various selection exams,” said the prime minister.

“In the first phase, it will be at the headquarters of 18 state divisions, where the coaching will take place physically and virtually. Officials will also dedicate their time to him and experts will also be assigned, “he said. The chief minister said that the educational infrastructure of several universities and colleges is used to provide free tutoring to state students, which would also have a governing body.

“Classes are held both physically and virtually and there are instructions for various exams, be it for the NEET, IITJEE, NDA, CDS or UPSC exams. The training centers will give young people a new platform and motivate them to take a new flight and climb to new heights, ”said Adityanath.

The chief minister pledged to accept the challenge of bringing back more than 30,000 students from Kota, Rajasthan, to the UP, where they had been trained for various competitions during the Covid-19 epidemic.

CBSE affiliation system to be restructured

The membership system for CBSE schools is being restructured by the Central Board of Secondary Education and the process is digitized on the basis of data analysis with the least human intervention. The new systems will come into effect on March 1, 2021 and have been structured according to several recommendations for systematic reforms introduced by the New National Education Policy (NEP).

On the initiative, CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi said that the Council was restructuring its membership along with the process in accordance with the recommendations of the educational reform in the NEP. While the CBSE membership system has been online since 2006, the restructured system will be completely digital and based on data analysis with as little human intervention as possible.

The Secretary of CBSE also added that the reorganization will help to simplify the management of the CBSE membership system, thus achieving the goal of minimal governance, automated and data-driven decision making, maximum governance, transparency and increased accountability in processes. According to the revised schedule, the application window for new applications and membership updates will be open three times from March 1 to March 31, June 1 to 30 and September 1 to 30, 2021.

UGC issues guidelines for mentorship of teachers in non-technical stream

The University Grant Commission (UGC) has formed a committee to develop guidelines and an implementation strategy for the integration and mentoring of teachers in non-technical fields (NIIMT).

The fundamental goal of mentoring teachers is to equip them with a broad repertoire of skills and dispositions to improve student achievement.

The committee has already produced a draft of UGC guidelines for the integration and supervision of teachers in non-technical fields (NIIMT). The Commission asked interested parties for proposals on the draft directives before 6 February 2021.

At this point, it is worth mentioning that one of the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is to develop a mentoring system through experienced, respected and retired faculties.

Under the proposals, a national mentoring mission will be established with a large number of outstanding graduate / retiree faculties, including those with the ability to teach in Indian languages, willing to provide short and long-term mentoring / professional support terms in college.

That said, the focus will be on the use and integration of technology to improve various aspects of education, which will be supported and adopted, provided that these interventions are rigorously and transparently evaluated in the relevant contexts before being extended.

An autonomous institution, the National Educational Technologies Forum (NETF), is being established to provide a platform for the free exchange of ideas on the use of technology to facilitate learning, assessment, planning, management, etc. for both school and higher schools to improve education.

The 2021 BSE Odisha Matric exam for all 10th grade students will be conducted at their own schools instead of giving them different test centers. The decision to allow students to take the Odisha HSC 2021 exam at their respective schools was announced by the Council on Secondary Education Odisha. Although students can attend their own school for the next meeting, the board decided that the board’s exam proctors would come from different schools to ensure impartial oversight over the exam process.

The decision to allow students to take the 10th Odisha 2021 board exam was made by the board with the best interests of the students in mind. The decision ensures that tenth graders who are required to take the tenth grade exam will not have to travel long distances for upcoming exams, ensuring their safety against COVID-19 pandemics.

In announcing the decision, the Minister of Mass and School Education, Samir Ranjan Dash, said that the decision was to ensure the safety of students during the board examinations. He added that students from more than 8,000 high schools in their own schools will attend the tenth grade exams. It is often difficult for students to find rooms near the test center and to stay in groups, which can become a health risk given the current pandemic situation. With this in mind, the Odisha government decided to allow students to take the high school diploma exams in their own schools.

According to previously announced exam dates, the BSE Odisha Matric 2021 exam is scheduled for May 3-15, 2021. According to preliminary estimates, around 6.5 lakh of students have registered for the high school certificate exams and they are expected to complete the Matura exams in May.

JNU V-C Jagadesh Kumar gets extension

The Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Mr. Jagadesh Kumar, who was due to retire on January 26, has been invited by the Ministry of Education to remain in office until his successor is appointed.

There were also ongoing protests on campus over rising boarding fees and compulsory student and teacher attendance.

The JNU student union and the JNU teachers association had come into conflict with the V-C, and requests for resignation were made from time to time.

In January last year, the JNU campus became a scene of violence when people wearing masks moved from one dormitory to another, attacking students and damaging property. Several members of the faculty were injured in the attacks.

Not in favour of extra attempt for UPSC: Centre to SC
