Skill-Based Education Essential for Creating Future-Ready Youth, Says Maharashtra Education Commissioner

Skill-Based Education

Maharashtra Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh has emphasized the importance of integrating skill-based education into the school system to prepare students for future careers and evolving industry demands.

Speaking at the 20th anniversary celebration of Lend A Hand India (LAHI) at the Pune International Centre, Singh said traditional academic learning alone is no longer sufficient in today’s rapidly changing world. He stressed that students need practical knowledge, vocational training, and real-world exposure to become employable and future-ready.

He highlighted that education must evolve alongside technological advancements and industry requirements. Schools should focus on experiential learning, problem-solving abilities, and entrepreneurship skills to bridge the gap between classroom education and workplace expectations.

The event brought together policymakers, educators, industry leaders, students, and development professionals to discuss the growing need for skill-oriented education in India.

Founded in 2006, Lend A Hand India has been working to promote vocational and applied learning across schools in more than 20 states, benefiting millions of students. The organization showcased several initiatives aimed at strengthening practical education and enhancing career readiness among young learners.
