India-Ireland Higher Education partnership deepens with Nayanta University & UCC MoU

Nayanta University, Pune, and University College Cork (UCC), Ireland, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic cooperation and expand opportunities for student and faculty exchange, joint programmes, and collaborative research.

The agreement was signed during a visit by Dr Ranjan Banerjee, Vice Chancellor of Nayanta University, to the UCC campus in Cork on May 25, 2026. The partnership aims to deepen educational ties between India and Ireland while promoting international engagement, collaborative learning, and cross-cultural exchange.

A key focus area of the collaboration will be sustainability, identified by both institutions as a shared priority. The universities plan to explore joint initiatives that enhance the undergraduate learning experience and contribute to research and innovation in sustainability-related fields.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr Banerjee said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to interdisciplinary learning and global academic exchange, while building on the long-standing intellectual and cultural connections between India and Ireland.

John O’Halloran, President of UCC, said the agreement will provide a strong framework for connecting students and faculty, encouraging the exchange of ideas, and advancing research that contributes to a more sustainable future.

As Nayanta University welcomes its first undergraduate cohorts, the institution continues to expand its global academic network, creating new opportunities for international learning, research collaboration, and student mobility.
