The European Commission has approved a $9.35 million (2.6M euro) financing agreement for an information and communication project aimed at improving education, diversification and competitiveness in St. Kitts/Nevis.
The project is designed to foster the development of a vibrant and sustainable information technology sector in the country through an increased adoption of ICTs by strategic sectors; a developed ICT service industry; the empowerment of social groups, communities and individuals and support for an ICT-driven public sector reform. Some of the results of the intervention include the establishment of an information society, mainstreaming of ICTs at all levels and sectors of the society and economy and the development of an ICT industry and ICT-enabled service sectors.
