A Group of Ministers (GoM) have approved a proposed legislation, which will allow foreign university to set up their campus in < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />
Once, the Cabinet approves the proposal and pass it as law, the Foreign Education Providers (Regulation) Bill will grant deemed university status to such institutions. According to the proposal, universities can set up their own campus and there is no need to adopt the franchisee route. Such universities have to take prior approval of the University Grants Commission for such a project and the embassy of country of its origin have to certify the background of that institution.
