ITA, Cisco in pact for wireless technology in schools

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) of Oman has signed an agreement with Cisco to facilitate the draft of a high-level technical architecture for eOman.

Under this agreement, selected schools in the Sultanate will be empowered with the latest in wireless technology as well as ICT training programmes in order to promote connected education. This will create new opportunities to improve learning experience among students, so that they can meet with the challenges of knowledge-based society. Cisco will provide its expertise in citizen centricity, standard common infrastructure, back-office re-organisation governance, new organisation models and social inclusion to develop a technical blueprint for eOman. The scope of the agreement includes supporting the human capital development within the country through Cisco's Networking Academies (NetAcads), the establishment of Connected Schools and offering of graduation programmes. Cisco will also introduce a graduate programme in order to provide select university graduates with the opportunity to enroll in Cisco's International Programme to receive training and certification.
