Ceylinco Consolidated has launched an ambitious project to empower student in Sri Lanka to build their lives through e-Learning material. Under this new project, Ceylinco Nena Sarana, (www.ceylinconenasarana.org), 500 of the country’s most deserving school will be gifted with gifted with 500 brand new, state-of-the-art computers and e-Learning material.
Thus the project will touch the lives of 300,000 students and making it the largest education oriented CSR project undertaken by the private sector in Sri Lanka. The main aim of the project is to assist the development of rural education by providing supplementary educational material to students in remote areas access. In turn, the project will open a new window of opportunity to build and thus change their lives. The project is launched in sponsorship of the Seylan Bank PLC, Ceylinco Life and The Finance Company PLC.
The project will also provide the 500 schools with a monthly study pack for a period of 36 months. Teachers and seniors students of these will also receive instructions on the handling and proper usage of the computers and installed programmes so that they can operate the programme on their own by instructing students in lower grades. There will also be additional lessons in English for AL students, supplementary computing studies for OL students, an e-Library with its comprehensive encyclopaedia and Talking English Dictionary.
