Microsoft in partnership with Capita Education Services has announced the launch of SIMS Learning Gateway, a simple, cost-effective solution that allows teachers, pupils, parents and government authorities to access information about learners' and monitor their progress.
The Learning Gateway is an outstanding resource for schools, Local Authorities and parents, giving them ready access to information about the progress of students. The SIMS Learning Gateway can enable Local Authority officers to view certain data, such as which students are absent from school without permission or more detailed information on individual students. This could reduce a school's reporting requirements to the Authority and improve the accuracy and immediacy of information shared, as all records can be accessed directly from the school's own SIMS database. An added advantage is that a school can enable access to Local Authority systems via SIMS Learning Gateway, so that parents can apply for uniform grants, free school meals or other benefits via the same web site.
