COVID-19 outbreak: ICSE postpones 10th and 12th board exams

The Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE) board on Thursday postponed the board exams of class 10 and 12 in wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier, clearing the doubts over postponement of exams in view of the COVID-19, G Immanuel chairman of ICSE, said the exams will be held as per schedule.

This comes after the HRD ministry directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and all other educational institutions to postpone all exams including JEE Mains till March 31.

HRD Secretary Amit Khare said, “While the maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule is important, equally important is safety and security of students, who are appearing in various examinations.

The Ministry has appealed to parents, teachers not to panic over the situation. It has also requested educational institutes to maintain regular communication with students.

A total of 170 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far.
