In a major development, the govt of India initiated reshuffle of IAS officers. Vineet Joshi, IAS officer Manipur 1992 batch, who is presently posted as DG National Testing Agency has been given additional charge of Chairperson National Council for Teacher Education, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

NCTE is mainly responsible for laying down policy guidelines, norms and standards for various teacher education programmes, conducting and promoting research and innovations in teacher education and performing various other academic functions
