The Ministry of Education has issued Letters of Approval (LoAs) to three globally reputed foreign higher education institutions—the University of Bristol, the University of York, and the University of New South Wales (UNSW)—allowing them to establish campuses in India. The approvals were handed over by UGC Chairman Dr. Vineet Joshi in the presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The new campuses will be established in Maharashtra and Karnataka, further advancing the internationalisation goals outlined under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. According to the Ministry, the move is expected to strengthen quality education, global academic partnerships, and research collaboration in India.
The universities are expected to offer programmes in a range of future-focused disciplines, including Business, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Finance, Renewable Energy, Health, and Education Technology.

Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the establishment of these campuses marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to create a globally competitive higher education ecosystem. The initiative reflects growing confidence among leading international institutions in India’s regulatory and academic environment.
With these approvals, India continues to expand its foreign university ecosystem under NEP 2020, providing students access to world-class education opportunities without having to leave the country.
