It has been brought out that the doctoral research, which was once the exclusive domain of the University of Mumbai, is now being carried out increasingly in colleges which are meant for undergraduate studies, according to the information sought under Right To Information (RTI). It has been noticed that there are shockingly high figures with the degree colleges leaving behind the parent university to attract PhD aspirants. Apparently, the reasons seemed to be the strengthening of the laboratories and research facilities in these university-affiliated colleges due to which there are more students queuing up for research.
