National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Agartala has announced the introduction of a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programme in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). The programme will commence from the 2026-27 academic session under the NIELIT Deemed-to-be University framework.
The newly launched course will admit 60 students in its inaugural batch and is designed to equip learners with advanced skills in emerging digital technologies, particularly AI and machine learning, which are increasingly shaping industries worldwide.
Admissions to the programme will be conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. In addition, aspiring candidates will also have the opportunity to secure admission through NIELIT’s dedicated entrance examination.
NIELIT Agartala, an autonomous scientific society functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has steadily expanded its academic offerings over the years. The institute currently provides diploma programmes in Computer Science & Technology and Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering, alongside undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and M.Tech in Data Engineering. All academic programmes offered by the institute are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
In a move aimed at promoting equitable access to technical education, the institute has also announced a full tuition fee waiver for students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities. The initiative is expected to encourage greater participation from underrepresented sections and support the development of a skilled and diverse technology workforce in the region.
