Punjab govt to start pre-board exams for classes 1 to 12 from Feb 8

Punjab govt to start

The Punjab State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) announced the schedule for evaluating all classes in public schools beginning February 8.

This year, not only the council classes (5, 8, 10 and 12), but all grades 1-12 must be considered before the council. Education department sources said a decision had been made to prepare students for final exams, as regular classes could not be held this year due to Covid.

“To ensure that students in all classes receive proper screening, this year there will be pre-board exams for all classes, not just board classes. These will be preparatory exams before the final, ”said a spokesman for the education department.

As directed by the SCERT principal, preliminary exams for grades 1-8 are conducted both online and offline and students can choose which medium to appear on the exams. However, for students in grades 9-12, the exams will only be taken in offline mode and students will need to report to the center in order to take the physical exam.

While for classes 1 to 5 the exam is taken from the entire program, for classes 6 to 12 the questionnaires are compiled from the “reduced program” because the schools have been closed for almost ten months and the courses were carried out online only.

The questionnaires are created according to the new Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) model.

For grades 1-8, there are multiple-choice questions and long-answer questions.

For online exams, the central office will send links to the questionnaires to District Education Officials (DEOs) statewide the day before the scheduled exam. These are only sent to the school principal on the day of the exam.

School principals will prepare the exam schedule for vocational students at their own level, the regulation says.
