The Punjab government ordered the total reopening of all public, supported and unsupported universities, as well as all public and private universities, beginning on January 21. All universities are required from time to time to follow the guidelines issued by the Punjab government regarding Covid-19.
The Punjab Higher Education Department has sent a detailed letter to all universities and colleges in this regard.
The official spokesperson said that according to the guidelines issued by the government, in the interest of students, educational institutions should provide education in an online and offline medium and only take semester exams annual than in offline mode. At the same time, students are free to attend classes at their own discretion, and no institute should require students to physically attend classes.
The spokesperson said that hostels at universities and colleges should open according to Covid-19 instructions. Shared rooms should be allocated by student or by room size, keeping in mind the required separation / safety of students. Students in their senior year must have priority at the time of award. He said that canteens / canteens in educational institutions should be opened in accordance with the instructions of the health department, with all the necessary security measures.
The spokesperson said that it was mandatory for all universities and colleges to ensure compliance with all directives / instructions from the Punjab government, center and department of higher education regarding Covid-19 timing in time for the safety of the students.
The government had previously allowed universities and colleges to gradually reopen starting November 16. In the first phase, only departments with practical training such as science and medicine were allowed to open, and only final year students were called to physical education with 50% attendance.
