ICAI CA Results 2019: CA Final, Foundation Results to be announced soon

Results for the CA exam 2019 are expected to be declared either today (Aug 13) or tomorrow (Aug 14) by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on its official website. The Chartered Accountants final exam (old & new course) and Foundation exam was conducted by the ICAI in the month of May- June 2019.

Candidates who had appeared for the CA final and foundation examinations 2019 can check their results on the official portal of ICAI by entering their registration or PIN number along with their roll number assigned. Candidates will be redirected to results page from where they can download a copy of their result.

IITs play a significant role in establishing India as world leader in education: Education Minister

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank emphasised on the importance of the role played by the IITs in establishing India as the world leader in education in the next five years.

Addressing the 57th convocation of the IIT Bombay recently, Pokhriyal highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will be established as the world leader in education by 2024. “The IITs have an important role to play in the realisation of this goal,” he said.

Pohkriyal congratulated IIT Bombay for bagging a rank among the top 200 in the QS world university rankings and asked the community to aim higher.

“IIT Bombay can render a significant contribution in addressing the challenges of climate change and in fulfilling development goals such as increasing India’s renewable energy capacity,” he said.

The minister also highlighted the fact that programs such as ‘Make in India’, ‘Standup India’, ‘Startup India’ and ‘Digital India’ are such transformative schemes of the era that has enabled India to become the world’s most sought after investment destination. He also threw light on various more initiatives by the government in transforming the field of education.

The minister urged the students to plant a sapling on their birthdays every year and to conserve water.

On this occasion, the minister inaugurated Hostel No. 18 and also planted a tree on the IIT Bombay campus.

Earlier in the day, he also addressed a live interaction via National Knowledge Network, with the students of all IITs on the topic of ‘Navbharat ka Nirman IITs ke Sath’.

While he recalled the contributions of ancient India in the fields of medicine, mathematics and nuclear science, he said “India has had a legacy of providing leadership to the world in the sphere of knowledge and science. IIT students need to ensure that India continues to play this leadership role”.

On this occasion, Nandan Nilekani, Co-founder and Chairman, Infosys Technologies Limited, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa), and former UIDAI chairman for his outstanding contribution as an industrialist and offering support for social development through technology.

Nilekani spoke on the occasion about his experience in building Infosys and later on the Aadhaar project. He spoke of how large scale development problems can be addressed using technology.

CBSE hikes board exam fees: 24 times for SC/ST, double for general category students

The Central Board of Secondary Education, in a recent development, has imposed a hike on the board examination fees of Class 10 and Class 12 students.

For SC and ST students, the fees has been increased from Rs 50 to Rs 1,000 whereas the fees for general category will be doubled and now students will have to pay Rs 1,500 instead of Rs 750.

The students sitting for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams had already registered when in Class 9 and Class 11 respectively. This announcement came in last week. Now the board has asked the schools who had initiated the registration process as per the old fee structure to collect the difference in amount.

As per the revised fees slab, the ST and SC students will now have to pay Rs 1,200 for five subjects, which is a hike of 24 times than what they paid earlier. The general category, on the other hand, will be paying Rs 1,500 for five subjects compared to Rs 750 earlier.

“The fees is applicable for both Class 10 and 12 examinations,” a senior CBSE official said.

There is also an increase in the fee amount for appearing for an additional subject in the Class 12 board examination. Earlier the ST and SC students who did not have to pay any extra fee will now have to pay Rs 300, whereas the general category students will now have to pay Rs 300 instead of Rs 150.

“100 per cent visually impaired students are exempted from paying CBSE examination fees. The student, who fails to deposit the difference in CBSE examination fee before the last date, will not be registered and will not be allowed to appear in the 2019-20 examination,” the official added.

The migration fees will also see an increase from Rs 150 to Rs 300 now.

Students studying abroad in CBSE schools will be now required to pay Rs 10,000 for five subjects for both Class 10 and Class 12. Prior to these changes, it was Rs 5,000. Whereas for an additional subject, they will be paying Rs 2,000 as compared to Rs 1,000 earlier.

UGC acknowledges 14 new higher education institutes for open and distance learning

In a recent development, 14 new Higher Education Institutes have been recognised for open and distance learning by the University Grants Commission. Already 82 such institutes have been acknowledged by the UGC in May this year.

In December 2012, as per the directions of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, regarding Distance Education programs, all the regulatory functions were allocated to Universities Grant Commission and thereby Distance Education Council was dissolved. Until then, DEC was the former regulator of throughout the country.

Earlier in 2015, MHRD through a notification published in the Gazette of India recognised all the degrees and diplomas given out through open and distance mode of education by the universities established under an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions (Deemed to be Universities under UGC Act, 1956) and Institutions of National Importance under an Act of Parliament which are automatically acknowledged for the purpose of providing employment to posts and services under the Central Government, though only if they have been approved by the UGC.

Delhi Govt joins hands with Omnicuris to offer free medical skills development courses

On Tuesday, Delhi government and Omnicuris, a leading online Continued Medical Education (CME) platform, collaborated to impart free of cost online courses to its doctors to upgrade their medical skills.

This move was announced during a conclave that was inaugurated by Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. “Leading online Continued Medical Education (CME) platform Omnicuris has collaborated with the Delhi Medical Council to provide free of cost online modules and courses to doctors of Delhi government to upgrade their medical skills,” a senior official said.

“The best part of this CME platform is that you don’t have to travel far to attend the sessions. A doctor can access the session by sitting at home and that also without paying for it,” Jain said.

Jain also suggested to implement chapters on exercise, food, soft skills and thought process in the modules as these will serve an important purpose for a doctor and their patients.

Delhi Medical Council (DMC), is a statutory body that was constituted in September 1998, as a byproduct of enactment of Delhi Medical Council Act, 1997 by the Delhi government. DMC is responsible for regulating the practice of modern scientific system of Medicine in Delhi.

“Now doctors of Delhi government can update their knowledge and get credit points without moving physically. In an era of rapidly advancing medical science, it is of utmost importance to keep your knowledge updated. Attending conventional CMEs takes lot of travelling, time and money. Sushma Swaraj (1952-2019): Know educational background of People’s Minister

The sudden demise of Sushma Swaraj in late hours of Aug 7, 2019 (Tuesday), a political stalwart of Bharatiya Janata Party, has left the whole country in state of shock and distress. She was one of the rare politicians who was loved and admired by everyone irrespective of their political views.

The former external affair minister breathed her last at AIIMS, where she was rushed following the cardiac arrest at 9 PM, merely two hours after her tweet congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the historic decision to scrap Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

She wrote, “Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime”.

Swaraj, who possessed exceptional orator skills, was considered as a motherly figure among countrymen because of her unique approach of solving the problems of common people. Sushma Swaraj was one of India’s most followed and beloved politicians on Twitter with over 13 million followers.

And not only in the country but across borders, her popularity was unmatched thanks to her quick-wittedness and benevolence and the commitment to go an extra mile every time someone pinged for help.

In October 2016, she melted hearts with a tweet where she shown her concern for a ‘daughter’ of Pakistan saying, “Aliya – I was concerned about your well being kyonki betiyan to sabki sanjhi hoti hain”.

The tweet was in response a lady named Aliya Harir, who tweeted, “Extremely overwhelmed. Spoke to @SushmaSwaraj ji who assured that Pakistani delegation of #GYPF2016 will reach Pakistan back safe.”

And this is not the only instance; there are numerous occasions where Swaraj’s humanitarian approach while dealing with issues of international importance made her a fan favourite.

Remembering the great human being that she was, digitalLEARNING takes a look at the educational journey of Sushma Swaraj, the second ever woman in country’s history to take charge of the external affairs ministry after Indira Gandhi.

1. Sushma Swaraj completed her bachelor’s degree with honours in Political Science and Sanskrit from Sanatan Dharma College of Ambala Cantonment.
2. She did a degree course in LLB from the Department of Laws of the Punjab University in Chandigarh.
3. She received the best student award from SD College, Ambala Cantonment, in the year 1970. Besides, for three consecutive years, she also won the title of best cadet of NCC.
4. She won the best Hindi speaker award in a state-level competition held by the Language Department of Haryana. Not once but for three consecutive years.

5. Apart from the academics, Sushma Swaraj was par excellence in extracurricular activities also. She received various awards of distinction in debates, recitations, rhetoric contests, dramas and other cultural activities.
6. Besides being a keen reader of poetry and literature, Swaraj also took interest in classical music, fine arts, poetry and drama.
7. At Punjab University, she was declared the best speaker in Hindi at the AC Bali Memorial declamation contest. She was also awarded the university colour there.
8. For four years, she remained the president of Hindi Sahitya Sammelan of the state of Haryana.

The untimely demise of Sushma Swaraj has left a big void in the Indian political scenario which is difficult to be filled anytime soon. As PM Modi in her tweet mentioned, “a glorious chapter in the Indian politics has came to an end”.

Both her personal and professional journeys will be an inspiration for many in the times to come. From becoming the youngest Cabinet Minister of Haryana at the age of 25 in 1977 to taking over as the Minister of External Affairs at the age of 62 in 2014, Sushma Swaraj’s role in politics has been quite significant and predominant.

Sushma Swaraj has been cremated with State honours at Lodhi Crematorium in the presence of top dignitaries, including PM Narendra Modi, who came to the crematorium to pay their respects to the departed soul.

Rajya Sabha passes NID Amendment Bill in 4 states

Rajya Sabha has amended the National Institute of Design (Amendment) Bill, 2019 to impart in all design institutes in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Haryana, national importance. The amendment will accredit all National Institutes of Design to grant degrees and diplomas to its students.

As of now, these institutes do not possess the power to grant degrees and diplomas under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

The bill was introduced by the Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on 30th this year in Rajya Sabha with a voice vote. This bill intends to amend the National Institute of Design Act, 2014.

When questioned on the autonomy of these institutes, Goyal said, “Except at the time of appointment of a member of governing councils, the government has no role to play. Nothing on these institutes comes to me (for administration purpose). I am here only because of this bill. We want complete autonomy of the institutes.”

He also encouraged the idea to rope in industry-academia and leaders in the education sector and suggested that government funds can be utiliSed to set up government institutes of eminence.

The minister also assured that nobody is taking away credits of the leaders and professionals who contributed at large for these institutions.

Party leaders from other parties present at the debate also put up requests to set up NIDs in their states. N Gokulakrishnan of AIDMK asked for a NID to be set up at Chennai and Puducherry. Kahkashan Perween of JDU also asked to set up a NID at Bihar. K Somprasad of CPIM raised a request to seek national importance for the Kerala Institute of Design.

CAT 2019 registration begins today, know the details

CAT 2019 registration has commenced throughout the country on the official portal of Common Admission Test (CAT). The first notification by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for the Common Admission Test was made on July 28, 2019.

This year CAT 2019 test will be held on November 24, 2019. Last date for registration for CAT 2019 is September 18, 2019.

Common Admission Test 2019 is the entrance exam that is held every year for admission to premier management institutes throughout the country. In 2019, the test will be conducted across 156 cities. IIM Kozhikode will be the co-ordinating institute for the test this year.

Candidates can check the official website of CAT 2019 for checking the guidelines on how to register and check the eligibility.

In order to maintain a good learning environment, what activities along with studies are conducted at Sanjeevani World School?

We truly believe that for a good learning environment, a school has to do away with the mundane timetable of curricular and cocurricular activities. So to break the monotony, they have Club activities for languages, the last day of every month is a ‘No Bag Day’ so educators plan their teaching accordingly, sessions with the counsellor that’s called ‘Freeplay’ and also sessions with the Principal herself under the name ‘Principal ki Pathshala’.

What are your views on usage of technology in learning outcomes for students and which technology has helped school in improving learning outcomes?

We have various educational apps that we use for teachinglearning. Apart from that we take students to the Amphitheatre to show them movie, documentaries etc, Whiteboards are used in the classroom, online exams with multiple -choice questions are assessed to gauge their conduct, student’s projects are mailed on the school email id, students cast e-votes for student’s council elections. Listening activities to enhance their listening through audios played.

A good school must have good student-teacher coordination, what methods are followed by Sanjeevani World School to maintain the same?

The PTSA is an initiative of our school with the maxim “My voice counts”. Our students are an integral part of our school. So, our belief is “For the students, by the students, of the students”, hence with the PTSA being formed it’s not just parents and teachers who come together for planning and decision making in a healthy way for the development of the school but the students of the senior most grade too share their perspective.

How the curriculum adopted by Sanjeevani World School is interesting as well as focuses on the holistic development of children at your school?

Experiential and hands on learning is made available to the students in the various lab sessions that are conducted. In addition to that our corridors, foyers and stairs are also used as flip classroom where students are brought out of their normal setup, especially for and English or Social Studies class. This increases their curiosity and builds interest as they look forward to their next session for the same. Our curriculum caters to all the ‘Qs’ i.e. IQ, EQ, SQ and AQ. We have Life Skills sessions almost on a daily basis.

What is the vision and mission of the school?
