The Millennium School organizes Umeed, friendship transcending boundaries

In a first of its kind school exchange program between Pakistan and India, The Millennium School (TMS) Noida played host to a delegation of school children from across the border. Indo-Pak Peace Project through Education is an initiative by The Millennium School to nurture relationships between the younger generations in both countries through educational exchange. Present at the occasion were Baela Raza Jamil, Trustee of the Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust and Faiza Shahrukh, Principal of Sanjan Nagar School, Lahore, a renowned school in Pakistan, along with Rita Kaul, Principal, The Millennium School, Noida.

The Millennium School, Noida has undertaken a path breaking initiative by extending a hand of friendship and collaborative learning with delegates from Sanjan Nagar School, Lahore. The school will host the delegation for three days extending the renowned Indian hospitality while exposing them to the spectacular Indian culture. The three day journey started on a euphoric note with a fine display of 'Umeed', a cultural event incorporating hope for Indo- Pakistan friendship with music, dance, drama and a lively interaction. The highlight of the event was the skit 'Tootengee Sarhade” motivating the youth to shun prejudices and stride together towards a great future. All present luminaries from field of education inspired the audience to shed their inhibitions and progress towards a harmonious and peaceful coexistence.

A range of constructive activities have been scheduled for the visiting school children from Pakistan at TMS Noida to promote peace and understanding between the two countries. Stalwarts like Prof. Krishna Kumar, Former Director, NCERT, Professor Anil Sethi, Head, History Department, NCERT and representatives from the reputed NGO Pravah would be enlightening the Millennium school students and the Pakistani delegation on learning from conflicts, role of the identity in the human existence and the relationship of self and conflict. An Iftaar Party is being hosted by The Millennium School for the visiting delegation from Pakistan in the evening.
