The AIIMS PG 2019 examination has been cancelled for the candidates who were allotted centres in the Bhubaneswar city. The exam was scheduled to take place on May 05.
This decision has been taken by the Ministry of Health in wake of cyclone Fani, which has caused extensive damage in the city.
Giving out the information via tweet, the Health Ministry mentioned “AIIMS PG exam was scheduled on 5th May. Due to Fani Cyclone, there has been extensive damage in Bhubaneswar, affecting road, rail and air connectivity. As a result, AIIMS New Delhi is cancelling the exam centre in Bhubaneswar”.
The next date for examination is not known yet, however, the ministry communicated that AIIMS PG 2019 exam will be conducted once the normalcy returns in the city.
“Another AIIMS PG exam will be conducted for students affected by the cancellation as soon as normalcy returns,” tweeted the Ministry of Health.
As per the media reports, three people have died in the cyclonic storm Fani (pronounced Foni). However, the cyclone has weakened from an ‘extremely severe’ to ‘very severe’ cyclonic storm and it is predicted to further weaken in the next six hours to ‘severe storm’.

The coast of Odisha has been battered off by the cyclone as it has damaged buildings and uprooted trees. More than one million people have been evacuated from coastal regions to shelters.
