Date sheet for the 2020 CBSE Class X and XII Board examinations brings good news for the appearing students. The examinations have been spaced evenly and give ample time for last-run preparation, due to which the date sheet has been received well among the student community.
According to the date sheet released at CBSE’s official website (https://cbse.nic.in), this term’s Class X examinations will commence on Saturday, February 15 and end on Friday, March 20. On the other hand, Class XII examinations will commence on February 15 and end on Monday, March 30. For both the classes, vocational and language subjects are scheduled till March 1. For Class X, the first mainstream paper – Science will be held on March 4 and for Class XII, Physics exam will be held on March 2.
Apart from a minor mistake in the Class X date sheet, which mentions an English Communicative exam scheduled for February 26, the date sheet brings relief for nearly 30 lakh students appearing for the examinations. The English Communicative exam was discontinued by CBSE in the last term. Instead, English Literature and Language exam will be held on February 26.
Despite the relief provided by the exam schedule, students appearing for boards are going to see some big changes in the exam pattern including – reduction in the number of questions, more objective questions and less subjective questions, more internal choices, and internal assessment in all subjects.
Decidedly, 25 percent of the questions will be one-mark objective-type, internal choices will be implemented on 33 percent of the questions, and internal assessment will take place for 20 percent marks in subjects without practical assessment.
As per CBSE, the changes have been made to discourage students from memorising lessons, help them develop analytical skills and reasoning abilities, and to enhance the quality of education.
