COVID impact: Punjab cancels all university and college exams

In the light of COVID-19 outbreak, Punjab Government has decided to cancel all university and college exams to be held at varsities across the state. However, state government may allow universities who currently have their online exams underway to continue uninterrupted.

The announcement of cancellation of pending University and Semester Exams 2020 was made in his weekly #AskCaptain Facebook Live session with Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. In the session, the CM also confirmed that the college and university students would be promoted on the basis of their previous years’ results.

In the session, CM also announced that colleges and universities have been asked to work out the detailed process for working out the modalities for implementing the decision, he said, adding that the decision would be announced in the next few days.

He also added that students who are not satisfied by the result announced on the basis of promotion formula, they will be allowed to take a fresh examination later once the COVID-19 crisis is over. For school students, Punjab CM said that the state government would be following the CBSE decision announced in the Supreme Court some days ago.

In another major announcement, the Punjab Chief Minister also announced that all ex-servicemen will get an increased number of attempts for taking the Punjab Civil Services examination.
