Prof Pradeep Kumar Joshi appointed as new UPSC chairman

Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi has been appointed as the new chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Prof Joshi will succeed Arvind Saxena who completes his term as UPSC chairman. Joshi has joined the commission in May 2015 as a member.

Earlier, Joshi was the chairman of both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commissions.

His tenure as the chairman of the UPSC will be till May 12, 2021.

Earlier, Prof Joshi also served as Director, National Institute of Educational Planning & Administration (NIEPA). Prof. Joshi did his Post Graduate Degree in Commerce in 1977 and Ph.D. Degree in Commerce in 1981 from Kanpur University, Kanpur. Professor Joshi has been in the field of education for more than 28 years.

He has also served as the Professor, Head & Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur (MP) since May 2000 to 12th June 2006.

At present, Bhim Sain Bassi, Air Marshal A S Bhonsle (retired), Sujata Mehta, Manoj Soni, Smita Nagaraj, M Sathiyavathy Bharat Bhushan Vyas, T C A Anant and Rajiv Nayan Choubey are other members of the UPSC.

UPSC conducts the civil services examination annually to recruit for various bureaucratic posts in India.
