Ministry of Education: Rs 818 cr allocated for online education

Ministry of Education has informed to the Parliament on Day 1 of Monsoon Session that it allocated a total of Rs 818 cr for promotion of online learning and education and Rs 267 cr for online teacher training.

It further added that Rs 304 cr has been allocated for training members of school management committees (SMC) on COVID-19 awareness. On similar lines, the Education Ministry has also allocated Rs 153 cr has been allocated for media and community mobilization while Rs 51 cr has been allocated for safety and security at school level. In addition to this, a sum of Rs 417 cr has been allocated for orientation of teachers on safety and security.

Education Ministry also clarified that in addition to these funds, a total of Rs 3,771 crore has been allocated under composite school grant to ensure safe school operations, sanitization and ensuring basic wash facilities, safe drinking water, availability of essentials like alcohol rub/sanitizer disinfectant, cleaning material, thermal screening facilities, etc.

 “There is no question of revising the reservation policy,” Nishank said. The NEP approved by the Union Cabinet in July replaces the 34-year-old National Policy on Education framed in 1986 and is aimed at paving the way for transformational reforms in schools and higher education systems to make India a global knowledge superpower.
