Delhi’s government schools top the list of the recently released NITI Aayog National Innovation Index. This achievement has been hailed as a revolutionary transformation of the public school system. Government-supported schools in Delhi scored highest in the National Achievement Survey (NAS).

According to the India Innovation Index 2020 compiled by NITI Aayog, states where the state average NAS score reached 35.66 achieved the best NAS scores (class 10) among all human capital sections. . According to media reports on high incomes in Delhi and the restructuring of the public school system, the state capital reported the highest NAS value (44.73).

Deputy CM Delhi and Education Minister Manish Sisodia said on their official Twitter account that they are delighted that Delhi is proud that public schools are among the best in the country in the NITI NAS report. Income levels in the state also play an important role, according to media reports, as students in middle and upper income groups are likely to study in private schools and have access to better learning opportunities outside of schools. The state also provided good quality education in state-funded schools and helped increase NAS scores.

The National Innovation Index also indicated that the pillar’s score was affected by the fewer number of higher education institutions offering quality education, with only 3.37% of institutions having a NAAC score A and more.
