The Bihar state government will reopen schools for students in grades 6-8 beginning February 8, 2021. Schools have been closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure imposed on the country.
Public schools have reportedly been asked to ensure that schools adhere to state and central government COVID-19 protocols and guidelines for student safety.
Students attending classes were also asked to continue to wear masks and keep them at a reasonable distance from each other. The decision to reopen educational institutions in Bihar from January 4, 2021, took into account the students and the situation in the state. Schools for lower and middle class students remain closed.

The state government will provide classes for students in online mode from March 2020 until a decision is made to reopen classes for higher education students. The state government was also tasked with handing out masks to students before the reopening. Classes have reopened for students in grades 9-12.
State governments across the country have reopened their doors to students after examining the COVID-19 situation in each state. School reopening has been asked to follow COVID-19 protocols and guidelines for school reopening.
The Bihar Council began the 12th grade exams for science, business and art on February 1, 2021. Students taking the exams had to arrive at the exam center well in advance of the exams with a face mask, hand sanitizer and other necessary supplies. Testing is done in accordance with published COVID-19 guidelines.
