Universities, colleges and schools in different parts of India are closing due to the rapid increase in COVID 19 cases. Different states and territories of the Union have already decided to close educational institutions. At the same time, other states are examining the situation to make a decision soon. Here is a list of states and colleges that have already closed their colleges, universities, and colleges due to the COVID 19 outbreak.

States such as Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan have closed schools and universities in the state. Several colleges have also postponed their scheduled exams. However, most schools and universities have been allowed to continue their online courses for students.

List of Universities, Colleges and Schools Closed in India Due to Rise of COVID 19:

Haryana: All universities and colleges in the state will be closed until April 30, 2021. The Haryana government has also announced that schools in grades 1-9 will be closed by April 30, 2021.

Odisha: The state suspended physical classes for students in schools, colleges and universities from April 19, 2021 until further orders.

West Bengal: The West Bengal government announced today the closure of all schools. The government has also decided that the public school summer vacation will begin on May 7, 2021.

Bihar: Schools, universities and other educational institutions in Bihar will be closed until May 15, 2021, CM Nitish Kumar announced. Testing may also not be done during this time.

Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Aditynath’s government has decided to close all schools in the state before May 15, 2021.

Gujarat: Universities and colleges in Gujarat will be closed until April 30, 2021. However, online courses will be held until further notice. The Gujarat government has decided to give massive funding to students in grades 1-9 and 11.

Tamil Nadu: The government of Tamil Nadu has called for the closure of all public schools and institutions of higher education to switch to online education. The semester exams in the country are also carried out online.

Rajasthan: The state government has decided to close all educational institutions from April 19 to May 3, 2021. All state university exams have also been postponed until further notice.

Jammu and Kashmir: J&K management announces the closure of all educational institutions, including colleges and universities, by May 15, 2021.

Himachal Pradesh: All educational institutions in the state will be closed until April 21, 2021 due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases.

Maharashtra: State mandated online courses for schools and universities until further notice. Additionally, 11th grade students were promoted based on their internal grades. Even the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has postponed its exams until May 30, 2021.

Uttarakhand: Schools and universities in three districts, namely Haridwar, Dehradun and Haldwani, are closed until April 30, 2021.

Chhattisgarh: The state government has extended the closure in cities such as Raipur, Raigarh, Korba and Jaishipur until April 26, 2021. Schools have been closed until further notice.
