130 school students in Karnataka

A total of 130 students between Classes 1 to 12 are found infected and tested COVID 19 positive in Karnataka from all 34 educational districts recently, revealed the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

The highest Covid 19 cases have been reported in Chikkamagaluru with 92 cases. The students infected in this district are from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The data has been collated by the department and reported by the educational institutions.

In Kodagu district’s Madikeri, around 11 students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan school reported Covid 19 positive and are studying in Class 8.

As many cluster cases of Covid 19 are reported, the government will soon send a team to inspect such institutions. Speaking in this context, B.C. Nagesh, Primary and Secondary Education Minister told a news daily that the Department of Public Instruction is likely to conduct checks to make sure people adhered to all covid protocols.

Nagesh added, “We are worried about the COVID-19 clusters but are keeping a watch on schools. We have told schools that even if one case is detected, all their primary contacts should be tested.”

On Tuesday, Karnataka recorded 299 new Covid-19 cases as reported by the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Six deaths were reported from across the state and 260 people have recovered from the illness.
